Nice, is that the Bellecotte above La Plagne (sorta)?
I had time for an run today. Dust on crust on South Facing slopes (Creblet, Bob), North might be better with a bit less of a crust underneath - Howling wind is going to load them up nicely though
Snowing hard again now

need some serious insight here. this seems to be the time to be in the alps if you like to be riding in solid snowstorms..wind or no wind. i spent the last 3 seasons in the EU and now back on the east coast of the US jonesing for good snow and euro mountains. We booked a trip a while back to fly into geneva arriving Thursday march 5. As my luck, it looks like all of the snow storms vanish and warmth comes quickly for our 10 day powder run....blame me for no snow....
Am i seeing this right. A massive high pressure builds in late next week March 6-7 and gets balmy again there. HELP. I will pull the plug and go west instead to the rockies but really want to be in EU. PLEASE show me the snowy way!

Hmm? models let it dump until 6th or 7th and then OK temperature and good weather.
Seems like a good good trip to me but I don't know about your standards...
Btw. Was fun yesterday. And 30cm+ on the parking lot. Reeeseet.

Geez, d00d, you're making your own gloom.
I defer to the meteological maestro subtle plague, but it looks like the storm is favoring the East. One option is heading to Bad Gastein where there's hotsprings and a ton of options, not only in Gastein, but also via a short train trip to Malnitz or Mölltaler Gletscher.

Or go to another Austria glacier spot.

On the other hand, just stay high ( ;-) ) at the usual despot depots like Cham, Verbier, Engleberg, Tigne/Val d'Isere or Trois Vallees. North facing aspects above 2000m will probably stay good.

Mini TR:
Step one. Work all morning. Drive and take conference calls. Amazingly escape my two jobs.
Step two: Meet with Charlie don’t surf for 3+hours of awesomeness in the Valais.
Step three: Go ski essentially untracked Couloirs. Make “the point” for good measure.
Step four: Ski last run at 4pm again in untracked.
Step five: See weird deer wang and then eat deer?

I'm gonna x-post this to EuroBBi so skip it if you already read it there.
Ok, apologies in advance, cause this might be a little long. Arriving Zurich Sunday a.m. with 4 other guys from the US (non-mags), planning their first Euro ski trip (Zermatt then Jungfrau). I know one of the guys, so I was invited to join in. My plan was train to Zermatt for Sunday-Wednesday, then train to Klosters Wednesday night to meet up with EuroBBI contigent and then on to Vendul's Friday and back to the US out of Zurich the following Wednesday. So, 9 days playing in the snow, 3 Zermatt, 2 Klosters, 4 whatever Vendul comes up with for us.
All 4 of the other guys bailed due to COVID concerns this morning. I'm still not inclined to do so with the stuff blowing up all over the states now too. But I now have totally flexibility on the front end of the trip. I could of course simply go on to Zermatt solo, but the trip from Zermatt to Klosters is a bitch. I love Swiss train travel, but it's nearly 6 hours. So, I want to evaluate other options. I could just go straight to Klosters, but I don't think any other mags will be there as early as skiing on Monday amirite? Aletsch Arena looks interesting, but that's a pretty long train trip to Klosters too, and again i would be solo. I'm pretty comfortable solo, so I'm definitely not ruling anything out on that basis, but it's not a positive...St. Moritz looks like my most efficient option travel wise. Easy to get there Sunday 3+ hours and then less than 2 hours to Klosters. I have one ski day to my credit in (St. Mo last year's BBI), so that would basically be fresh meat for me. How's the snow in Engadin this year and any mags around early next week. Any other options with good logistics occur to anyone?
