typical from the region around st anton
I went to axamer on sunday, it was closed, and some people were ignoring the "no ski touring in the closed resort because we have avalanche work going on" I don't know how it went afterwards.
Later I went to muttereralm, but i found out it was closed smh. a brit couple and their kids where walking on the tramway tracks with their luggages, ignoring the sign saying a tram was coming in 2 min.
Later on, a BOOOM was heard and the lady said "what was that ?" her husband answered, "it's a lightning ". I shook my head and prayed that the tram for innsbruck would come soon. Unfortunately I had to listen to their shit for one hour.
Friday in kuhtai was pretty good. not many people, sun was showing up every 5-10min, and there was shitload of soft but not too soft wind affected snow.Last edited by zede; 01-09-2019 at 08:52 AM.

So the euros are apparently now using an equine based snow measuring system. How much snow did ya get there? Looks like at least 16 hands.....

The Swiss Map app has Montafon too. Might be useful. Here’s the website as an alternative: https://map.geo.admin.ch/
As others have said, stay in the trees.

Fatmaps! Sounds bad but I rely on Fatmaps now. Used to be google maps, the golden rule is that at some point you will usually hit an access road. Fat maps just lets you see if you are gonna be walking uphill or yoyoing down hill in the deep snow!
Looks like the Austrians have gone the french route and 3 guys got charged for what I can assume amounts to reckless endangerment.

Just some photos from ORF. I remember 2010/11 when I was driving through Arlberg the car park up the top was just a flat field of snow and the cars were no where to be seen and it was surreal to see people digging down towards their cars.
Can imagine that what this feels like. Buddy of mine who works in Pongau is now sick of digging his car out every evening when he wants to drive home!

Cheers guys, was epic today under the Garfrescha lift. Got told off by an instructor for skiing trees, apparently it's banned here although doesn't seem enforced.

Is anyone still skiing? I've never seen that many closed areas.

Glad it worked out, Jack. How long you there?
Davos / Klosters managed to open most lifts on Parsenn. It was balls cold though. I stayed in the trees, which were glorious. Fresh tracks to last gondola.
Re: maps, I also like Google Earth for scoping terrain. Way better than Google Maps or anything else I’ve seen. FATMAP is good too, but more limited to resort area.

Looks great, very similar looking terrain and tree skiing to here, although I guess it's just down the road.
Staying at least until Saturday night, possibly later- will see how the forecast shapes up.
Could be bluebird tomorrow, will have to be very careful with avi conditions as they are.

Today in Montafon: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_c...&v=bbo2ICWedPg
Shame there were so many idiots on the hill. Many had no avi gear and were skiing very irresponsibly.
