Sidenote. It's entertaining to see the treeskiing snorkel pics and videos. Not expected from AT and GR side so warly season. Happy for all

    Davos for the weekend

    Hi

I'm going to Davos with some friends for the weekend hoping to fetch some rides in all this epic European powder.

Believe it or not, the rest of the pack never ventures outside of the pistes, so if anyone is in Davos / Klosters and are happy skiing with a powder crazy Swede , send me a PM. I'm flying in to ZRH on Thursday.

I used to regularly ski to Davos several weeks a year and know my way around most good spots in all systems.

    /Lars

Are yout still around a week later? I have no time this week-end but if conditions stay good I woudl sure be in a week later. Would not have to be Davos. I'm based out of Zurich.

Also I can not PM you... check your settings!

Great day today in the west at Leysin. Not a lot of new snow overnight, but one can do a lot with 6 inches if you know what I'm saying.

Snowpack stabilizing, took the direct route into backside Mont Fort via the North Face. The wind has blown up too but it was peachy lower down

    Cornice cutting at the top

The hike of the summit ridge is great for the vertiginous!

Twenty years of freeriding by local film maker Guido Perrini and many of the local pros. Very interesting!

Checked this out on Google Maps and looks like a great day. You go under (to the southeast) of Le Métailler?

Possibly. The col you head for is called the Fenêtre d’alleves. At the transition if you continue up and over you end up at the Prafleuri hut.

It’s basically a 9 day consolidated figure from Snow-forecast so the figures are not reliable but gives an idea of where the next storms are headed

thanks. its pretty wild how unbelievably variable every forecast is. i am not sure i can trust anything beyond 72 hours on any one forecast...then you have to blend each different forecast you check....its a full time job!!

Some fun from last weekend. 200 vert up for 800 vert down without any tracks...

Forgot to take a picture after, so this from google will have to do:

Me being kinda sick at the time, Nico lead the way:

While I brought up the rear:

Upon gaining the ridge we got our first view into the couloir - which looked pretty much perfect!

The only bit we were really concerned about was the first, dropping from the cornice onto a loaded slide slope before moving into the main couloir. In the end it was all good, but we basically straight-lined across it for safety's sake, traversing straight across the slope under the rock band.

Re-grouped just inside the main couloir, tucked up into the right hand wall:

After that it was just a straight 800 vertical metres down to the valley floor below, with no tracks but our own.

Given he broke trail up, Nico got dibs on dropping in first:

    Then I followed after:

Snow was generally great - fluffy powder on the right, and some sun crust in places on the left. Old buried avi debris in a few places demanded some attention, rather than completely letting loose.

We re-grouped again near the bottom, to plan the way out to the valley. The avi debris became a bit more problematic here!

Before mellowing out to smooth cream cheese transforming pow though the exit
