Hello everyone,
I've not been around much the last while, free time is a pretty scarce resource at the moment on account of the (occasionally) screaming infant that arrived in my house a few weeks ago. I'd like to share a few photos from the last month or so at some point soon, but for now here is a photo of me and my dog being super gnarly.

Yeah, he has a pretty relaxed attitude to this sort of thing these days. To be honest, I think he's actually a little suspicious on the days when I don't ask him to climb up, jump from, or dive into some kind of peril.

Great picture of Baldric chilling. Good colour coordination on your part!
April storm snow on rocks and general mayhem in Austria on sat.
Nice views though.
Work outing sun and mon. Nice weather, nice views, wind fucked snow & some rather challenging breakable sun crust today.

Congratulations peds!
Stubai on friday was deepest i've seen all winter. Saturaday was an absolute shit show. Never seen anything like the crowds out. People were skiing over avy debris where someone was still sitting with an deployed airbag. I've never seen so many people behave like lemmings, skiing areas that were obviously avy prone. I'm just glad not more happend! We got out of there sharpish.

I skipped the obligatory Sat shit show, in favour of a slightly too relaxed start to Sunday Funday.
I over-estimated the amount of snow low down and under-estimated the length of the bush whack in; combined with me being sick and it being only Kouen's second time split boarding we were rather too late to the party and turned around only about half way up with 1pm looming. Still, the second bush whack at the bottom to the forest road was a further good test of next year's Scarpa Maestrale RX boots which meant I could officially call this work (ps, boots are great!). Most photos by my Munich-based Canadian buddy Hayden Buck (with two Brits, a Canadian and a South Korean we were probably the most multi-cultural group in Tirol that day).
Escaping bush whack no. 1 and approaching the base:
Hayden and Kouen working their way up between the walls:
Coming down, I wish I had waxed my skis at least once this year:
Elliot gets involved (PS he will shortly be opening a new freeride-focussed ski shop in Innsbruck, keep an eye on /www.powderinstitute.com for more):
Bush whack round 2:
Time to cool down with some holy water from the spring

^^nice! did you go up the left one? can you quantify the length of the bushwhack in either time, distance or vert?

Thanks! Yep up the left one (actually I still haven't ventured into the right).
It's not too bad really, just it took longer than expected and we'd already started pretty late. From where we skied down to (as far down as poss) maybe 100m vert/15-20 mins down to the forest road. Going up, from where you leave the track from Maria Waldrast, I guess it took about an hour/twice as long as usual. Not really gaining so much vert though, just super fiddly crossing the field of bushes/little gullies (which have always been filled in on my previous trips) once you've got above the treeline to get to the base of the couloir, and all of us took a faceplant at some point.
Definitely still worth it!

Yes, she is, but to be honest we genuinely can't complain about a lack of sleep right now! She sleeps all night and eats all day, with a few hours of being fussy in the evening. We've been told not to get used to this pattern though, so we are dreading when the "babymoon" is over...

hi tgr, long time no see! I skipped the Alps this season, but just wanted to report that snow levels in Northern Norway & Finland are really good, close to record heights at some places. Gonna be a long season. Below zero daytime temperatures for the next week and currently snowing... This is Norway 2 weeks ago, Tromso/Alta area:
EDIT: Can't get Vimeo embed to work, link
This is kiteskiing close to Finland/Norway border couple days ago, (skinning up is so last season):

I started my season back on 19 November 2016 with 5 days under my belt before I headed to Hokkaido
And quite possibly finished it on 26 April 2017 with a glorious day out in the Carneddau Range of Snowdonia National Park
May turns in Wales are not unheard of mind!
Even got on national TV in Wales. My bit starts at 7.15

Another work outing. Way up:
"Office"
Way down.
Pretty good snow, very good company, couple of beautiful days. Everything was a little less bright than usual after hearing about the death of two friends and a third person on tuesday due to an avalanche in the Savoie. Take care of yourselves, internet people.Ich bitte dich nur, weck mich nicht.

Still some great snow here in Cham...
There's some pretty rad drone footage of the day kicking about on someone's hard drive, if I get my hands on it I'll post it up for sure. But me... I don't got no drones, yo. All I got is a wobbly helmet cam covered in condensation and sunglare.
