    Snow for the Euros.

The direness will end. the snow is coming back to europe.
It looks promising and several models let it snow from friday to Christmas but that ist pretty uncertain. What is more likely to happen, as it it in the predictable future, is that the Swiss and french alps are going to be nuked until Sunday. Snow Levels will stay between 1000m in the north and sometimes 1500+ in the southern french alps. Rapidly going down to the valley floor on Sunday.
Im guessing (it changes from model run to model run (do you say run ??)) 40-60cm friday and saturday at the well known locations getting dumped in such a pattern. and maybe the same (or even more) from Sunday on.
Adding up the Snowforecast values gets you to ~100cm in cham etc. but i will only believe this when i see it.
Generally the mid term weather pattern looks really nice and the probability for more wet W/NW weather around X-mas is high.
In the long term The Sea Surface Temps(especialy the anomalies right now) and such things could favour moist weather .....(but that's pure speculation by some weather geeks on another board... )

I hope i didn't jinx this storm cycle for we need it
It's a war of the mind and we're armed to the teeth.

Nice, If I'm going to get skunked in Utah, at least Austria will have a bit of snow for when I get there!

W/NW flow is what I was hoping for!!! Keep the weather news flowing as I'm not the best at reading the German weather reports...

Here's the rather disappointing SkiClub estimate for tomorrow's snowfall...

    However, Saturday it gets interesting

    And continues to develop...

Has a rest Sunday morning (lie in, cooked breakfast in bed style)...

Then warm up for the afternoon

By Monday SkiClub shows it as jetting off for a Strüdel...

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

Finnish folklore says that birds of prey bring good omens.
In context, it is the result of the farmer leaving a tree for the bird to rest.
In return the bird thanks the farmer and brings good omens.

Here is a bearded vulture (I forget the French name) at my playground. You can see the Matterhorn in the background in one photo. In the other, you can see its size compared to a crow sized Chouka.

I saw snowflakes today up high. Let it snow all the way down to the valley!

*Sigh* can't wait for the 27th... Hopefully the off piste base will have consolidated enough to be both not rocky and stable... what's the chance? :-\

I wouldn't bet my ski gear on that storm...
But thsi Storm brought 60-80cm in certain swiss areas. Some reached the 100cm fresh.(can you say: Lötschental )
Avalanche Situation is a mess right now. Weak base and huuuge winloads. be careful out there. Altough it's only a 3 skier avalanches can be triggered just by coughing too loud.
The new Christmas Storm will favour the west and the South again, but im not sure how much will come down as it is far away in the future and it looks more like the Pyrenees will be vaporized by the white beam of fluffyness.
im still not sure if i'll go or not. (not that i have rented a room anywhere but.. hey )
