Finally, this snow cycle has gone wild ...
According to the regional avalanche service there has been a cumulutive total of new snow of up to 3m in some regions in the North-Eastern Alps. Of course avalanche danger has been upgraded to 5 now in some regions and some roads, schools etc. are closed.
Skiing is pretty much reduced to tree runs (and even there steep terrain is scary as some recent accidents have indicated).

Romania had also a fair amount of snow over the week-end, but unfortunately the wind blew it all away... Though we managed to find some sweet spots for a few runs in Sinaia

Ripz ? That day when you decided to get a POV ?
That was a very wise decision."Typically euro, french in particular, in my opinion. It's the same skiing or climbing there. They are completely unfazed by their own assholeness. Like it's normal." - srsosbso

02-24-2009, 06:50 AM #5962Hey, just wanted to share some pics from a epic day in sonnenkopf and one not that epic, but still epic! really nice terrain, when its too flat light to hit bigger faces!
Just curious: are you rocking a pair of Armada JJ's in the pics?
(just pulled the trigger for a slightly used demo pair...I guess that was a score bacause they seem to be very hard to find at the moment!)"Average summit heights are around 1000m to 1200m but on the high glaciers of the main Lyngen Peninsula there are summits over 1400m with Jiehkkevarri being the highest at 1834m above sea level."

Well, looks like we were in the wrong spot. 5 days riding varying depths in the trees at Laax. 4 days of shitty vis and the top lifts being closed meant that there wasn't much else to do. Found some fun stuff though, which was sometimes very good, but often wind-fucked and/or not deep enough.

Ooujeah!
yes they are JJ's, my precious JJ's! I think that is one of the smartest descision you have ever made!
So today i woke up to around 50 cm of fresh pow, and my local resort (a shitty little place, but some fun terrain) manages to have the lifts closed due to maintenance. really shitty timing, but its gonna puke for 1 more day and then bluebird! Stooked!
See that you live jikkeivarre, or at least ski in Lyngen?

Love it! The slide at 2:16 then seeing it crash a few seconds later is sweet.
