Hi Mike, you can do both, but in this case don’t buy the pass in advance, wait till the last minute. That’s the real advantage of the 50%, you don’t get stocked with a pass and a closed resort due to weather... for example

For those wondering, yes I survived my first trip to the Alps (St Moritz), but that could be because the off-piste was not in play for most of stay. I did see (and skied a bit) of “near” off piste that you can see from lift/trail, see people ski, and is very (and safely) poachable. Beyond that buyer beware. I saw from the lift three guys head into a slope-width chute that looked so doable. Told my daughter I wanted to ski that! First guy gets halfway down, it slides, he seems to ski out of it but gets caught, is OUT OF SIGHT for a bit in the midst of it, then emerges and walks out (needing a diaper change no doubt). Meanwhile, his buddies were still contemplating a ski down or a hike up bail-out when I lost sight.

I will be back and hit Corvatch, and I WILL get a guide......

thanks. I'll go ahead and buy the 50% card. Is there a deadline on that or can I buy it through the season? Or maybe you don't know?

yes, that's the one I was asking about. There was post a page or 2 back about it in the BBI Euro thread.

ETA: I don't see anything on that webpage that says it is only available through _________, however, so wondering about that...

Andermatt was pretty fun today albeit foggy. And of course it went blue when I switched kid duty with my wife.

Tricky conditions in St. Anton today. Rain in the town. Good snow above 2k. Bad visibility. 5-10 cm of dry powder on top of icy base. But up to 50cm of fresh in couloirs on the lee side. So we got that goin for us

Airolo had good snow down to midtram. A little thick but still really fun (and I'm coming from Colorado so used to rediculous fluff).

It will be good there tomorrow. They never opened the lifts so I was skinning most of the time. Had a great day.

Incredible looking steeps, but not sure if most of it is skiable? Reminds me of Mt Baker's short steeps a bit.

Lots of crowns on anything real steep. Stayed on the lower and mellower terrain away from the slabs.

Wow Gemstock looks fab, @subtle plague , was it crowded ?

First day of the season today, actually better then expected, skied Disentis , the pistes as long as it stayed open where ok with some new soft snow on top, the terrain outside of the marked runs is filled with shark fins and unfortunately, the rain has made all long endeavors impossible.

We are staying in Sedrun this week, moving to Andermatt for next week, happy to join for a run or two between skiing with the kids, if someone is in the area and interested, just send a PM.

    /Lars

the first 200hm skied alright lower scratching around on the base... but not complaining was just checking the base for the next days. and it is good not surprises in the trees. base under 10/15 fresh was still soft so it skied better then expected.

incoming. few days after the boxing day. cervinia / zermatt area, tbd thereafter. perhaps chase a storm. hope it stays cold and snows.

hopefully a full couple of euro piste days with a short break will get me in off piste ski shape for a session or two. rolling alpine gear only. may get a guide depending on what goes down.

Lots of new snow in Argentiere but storm went out warm with rain/snow line at Grands Montets roughly 1/3 of the way up Herse. Very nice windbuff above. Merry Christmas.
