...could be some options in the Valais too depending on this next storm track. Zinal already has some good base and peeps were hitting the run down to Montec already. Chandolin and Grimentz may open this upcoming weekend too.

I skied in Tignes today. it was fuckign sick, but highly wind affected. I bet it's going to rip out big. Coverage is good, but not great because of the wind. It's all on the east facing slopes now.

Some snaps from Verbier over the weekend (mostly in B&W due to me forgetting to adjust my camera settings...):
We're going that way:
Some unrepresentative pictures of me skiing (first outing of the season):
A representative picture (maybe U know my steeze fodder)
Moody clouds/mountain/light:

Ovronnaz on Saturday was good, sun affected but the right aspects were deep. A lot of slabs slid a little, making for some gaping crevasses to the grass below - although everything had stabilized. We pretty much skied it out though.
Lots more snow forecast for the coming week across the alps.

As I was in the area for the week end, I had the first turns of the season yesterday, in Gourette (western Pyrénées) with my son. Awesome snow for novembre (3 or 4 feet ?). Unfortunately, due to very high winds they had to shutdown the lifts mid-day.
So we hiked a little (until my feet started to kill me. Rental boots on narrow feet, it HURTS !) and sledded the pow to end the day...
Lot of fog, lots of snow, very few skiing and no pics, but many laughs and a great father / son day anyway.
I may come back next week end. The Pyrénées are €€€€ now. And more snow is coming."Typically euro, french in particular, in my opinion. It's the same skiing or climbing there. They are completely unfazed by their own assholeness. Like it's normal." - srsosbso

12-01-2008, 04:24 AM #4997Nope... no reason....
On a tangent - right at the (very) end of skiers left in vallon d'arby, way past Tete D'Etablon, there is what looks like a ripper of a chute in the trees. Never managed to ski it myself - but you can see it up on your left about 200m after the bridge on the traverse out .
