You do realise that the Verbier lift pass is going to cost more than double that, right? €20 is amazingly cheap for a bed in CH.

Don't be a cheap ass Marius, won't find anything cheaper around those bends. I was in le Stop just a few weeks back so here's my resume:

    - it's a bunker
    - 3 story p.o.s. beds
    - it's expensive for what it is (but what the heck, it's cheap for CH)
    - it's not half bad compared to the shithole called "the bunker" up in Verbier
    - the owner only shows up once a day for like 30mins
    - if you're in the door and got a sleepingbag you can probably bum a nights stay there (*hint hint* marius )
    - did i mention it's a f'n bunker?

    over and out.

This place is totally awesome ... staying here during the week you feel like the whole mountain is just yours ... really sad to leave, arrivederci Alagna!
That col has ben called col di diavolo amongst others, wich it isnt..
Have heard few different names, dont know what the real one is.
That line is one of my favourite lines ever, the ambience is something, isnt it?! It´ll be perfect if it was couple hundred meters longer..

    Saturday - liftaccessed in Ticino:

Due to the Gotthardtunnel being closed we started off with a cappuccino in Italy on Sunday enjoying 13 degrees and nordfoehn.

and thereafter had some fun in southeastern Valais

    Currently Windy and Wet,
with a mix of precipitation (1/2 snow) after an evening of non-snow substance.

dont worry, "southeastern Valais" covers a fair bit of ground.
we were technically in "southeastern Valais" too over the weekend.
but of course no once cares about saas fee. it's just a big flat glacier with bad viz and no snow.

Yep, lots of snow here also, and it's with the high winds. The area lifts are all closed.

Looking at the weather sites the most snow will come tonight around midnight. That's bad because it will be the coldest then and with high winds it will blow the snow around causing big time problems down the road...

The one good thing here is that the bed the snow is falling on, was stable before this storm cycle started.

maybe you wonder yourself, but it's not my first time in ch.
    and thats why i
    1) normally sleep in my car
    2) ask for a place to sleep in this community...

anyway, found a place in a friend's car...

btw: if anybody comes to "fassenacht" to mainz, don't hesitate to ask for room. live 20m nearby the big rosenmontagsumzug and 8min walk from the big party-zone...

    1mio drunken people...
and the next day the Blaskapelle weaks you up at 8'. what a service...

Well, it's cold enough, but not much has fallen all day.
5cm or so. Windy. Snow transporting.

Cross post from tech talk- does anyone know any shops they could recommend in or near Salzburg?

I'll be in Wolfgangsee and need to get some skis mounted with dynafits, for boots that have been pushed out and therefore don't have matching BSL's - eg I want someone half decent putting these things on.

Also I know there are a ton of ~1-lift resorts near by- any of them more recommended than others? I'll be spending most of the time cruising blues with the gf but will try to make my escape for a few runs if the terrain warrants it.

    Thumbs up

hitting alagna/gressoney 14-21.02, then cervinia, then valais (28.02 - 7.03). anyone there at the time?

it's the first time we're doing alagna, would be great to hook up with some mags.
i'm 31, skier, my GF 30, boarder, have a hefty bc experience. got avy gear, but no skins. and yeah, as a bonus there will be a hot single redhead with us.

as for ch, that's our second time in verbier, we are staying in nendaz, but for the weekend we will hit Z&G or ovronnaz to stay away from the crouds. local mags - verbier61, ripzalot, huck_schmuck, jwolter7 - you there at the time?
we won't be bored from riding only, but good people we meet in mountains make the mountains much bigger. being a long time lurker/reader, i would love to meet you guys in person.
