i might be hanging out at the diavolezza when it clears on friday or saturday. anyone else?
I hope they dont open andermatt, so i have another spot for the weekend after

anyway the southern flow pattern is proving quite persistent, unfortunately it gets really warm today and tomorrow but a lot of more snow, and cooling on tuesday. Long term seems like more sw/southern flow so the alpine (above 2000m) in the south will have a good and above 2500m an amazing base when they open things.
It's a war of the mind and we're armed to the teeth.

If you happen to go out on sunday PM me and I will try to join!

EDIT: Just figured Saturday might work, too.

Meh they closed the road to where I wanted to ski today. So I go bouldering because it gets warmer again.

The lift assisted high alpine fun is still the plan for Fri or Saturday

So, friday Amatt opens for the season and so many others... anybody has a real guess on what are the chances that this snow at 2000mt stays through winter???

This 1.5m will stay as a base in the south. The 30 something in the north.... Not very likely.

Great news... at this point I’ll shoot another question: Sedrun is north or south?!?

Right in the middle. You're at 50-80cm at 2000 according to the SLF and that should stay that late in the year.
Graubünden got enough at 2000m to become base. If it stays dry for long you might get trouble with deep instabilities because the base is not thick enough.

For those trendmongers among us, you know those shallow, insouciant smugwackers who are perpetually in search of the latest trends, what does this early snow portend for the coming winter?

Based on recollections from the past decade: a good dump in October/early November followed by nothing until a few days after Christmas. After that, no trend to note.

The photo is from this afternoon. They may open the glacier on Thursday but it is still looking pretty thin up there.Click image for larger version.

Any mags based in or near Geneva? I'm going to be living in Geneva from January to June this winter, definitely looking for any good info or skiers to link up with.

Can't believe how close I will be to the home mountain of Candide
