Really good conditions at cham last few days. Spent most of our time on the other side of the valley, where it was really good. I skied a lot of places that were verifiably rock/grass covered the day before.

Detachment of our team went to ski the col de belvedere yesterday and reported snorkel conditions.

I did notice some slabs across the valley on the moraine below the nant blanc face. I would guess it has to do with the north-facing sugar party underneath a meter of fresh. Be careful.

Nice chamonix shots! Seems like amazing conditions.

Came back from a trip to Switzerland on Sunday.
Lots of good snow to be had in upper Engadin / St.Moritz area. Diavolezza is in pretty good shape, wind covering up the old tracks. Further down the valley the situation is different, Scuol still works but in the lower elevations only very little snow is left.
short writeup and a couple of pictures on http://verfechter.eu/

Nice to see things looking good.

Skied the Col du Berard and the Belvedere last year, so you're bringing back great memories. Thanks!

Has anyone else heard of a fatal avalanche in the last few days in or around Verbier?

Apparently it was Scott Mann, manager of Surefoot Verbier....

    That's terrible

Stunning day on the Aiguille today - we skied Grand Envers: http://aussieskier.com/index.php/201...nvers-du-plan/

As usual we suck at action shots but got plenty of scenics, it was that sort of day.

Day off tomorrow and heading into the Ecrins for 3 days of touring on Friday.

Might want to ski La Grave for a day and Ceillac for another (see touring options behind).

Haute restauration = Aux Vieux Guide, La Grave.

The original plan was La Grave but Jerome has a couple of mates in the area who reckon the snow is better further south and closer to the Italian border. We may hit La Grave on the way back.

Heading to Zillertal area on Saturday - any idea if we should continue driving straight to South Tirol as it looks like they've been getting a lot more snow the last few days? Three weeks of skiing, here I come!

Abries, Crevoux, and off the Vallouise areas are also interesting.

    Yeah,
Scotty passed away in hospital two days ago. He was taken in a big avalanche in Crans Montana. He was still alive when they found him but died in the hospital shortly afterwards.
Horrible news for a lot of us here in Verbier.
I didnt know him personally, but I knew who he was. He will be missed.
    RIP Scott Mann!

Terrible. Terrible news. I had a handful of interactions with Scott over the last 2 months, he really seemed to be a quality individual. I find this quite shocking, and more than a little difficult to accept.

There is a little info about it in this article http://genevalunch.com/blog/2011/03/...friday-update/

RIP Scott Mann. Prayers for your family, loved ones and close friends.

I would like to see the "people's head" if you come like this in a refuge or in the "bureau des guides" in a remote place .

For all TGR members who are small (1), you can also think about a trip to the Jura ,

distance: 20 m from top of the Chair , no need to keep it secret, hundreds of runs like this still untracked ...

    (1) I mean very small : less than 5 cm is the right size , others are not really welcomed in theses spots

what the fuuuuuuuuuuck they are all skiing on top of eachother in that obvious avy starting zone at the same time and there is a terrain trap and some DEATH CLIFFS below! are you endangering the lives of the lego men? i can even see some old avy debris in there! should be a major red light and a no-go decision!1 are they wearing avalanche bacon?
