Anyone around Obertauern next week for some beyond carpet edge laps? Forecast looking not too shabby, albeit a bit early for conclusions. Could steal a few half days from the family freepiste'ing activities.

Hey mags, Happy Easter!
I landed a new job, (wouptidoo!) and am currently in the process of moving base from southern Scandiland to the Bodensee north shore. I won't get my household and ski gear moved down here before mid May so this season is toast.
However, I am of course already geeking out on the near ski areas, which ends in a question.
Vorarlberg vs Arlberg. I have spent some days in Anton and somewhat know the area, but none in Vorarlberg. Are there any gems in Vorarlberg that shouldn't be overlooked (for either resort and/or touring) or is it better to focus on Arlberg? Also debating Arlberg season pass vs the Ländle card for the season to come. Pointers appreciated!

Congratulations on the new job.
Lots of gems in the Vorarlberg, I think they lay claim to the most snow in the alps due to Bodensee lake effect. I’m not gonna name any on the web but that Ländle card is good stuff! It would save ya quite a bit of driving to boot.
Reach out to skiinggirl, she is a local yokel in that area

Im at the south shore. Ländle is problematic in low Tide years as I is all pretty low. Some spots are nice if somewhat fickle. Arlberg is the safe bet. Albeit expensive.
And the lake effect is only once in 10 years. It's really rare and barely reaches the skiresorts.Last time 2013.
They tend to get a lot of snow from normal nw flows like the arlberg. It's a war of the mind and we're armed to the teeth.

Arlberg Season Card or Ländle Card is a question I ask myself at the start of each season, too. Talking about first world problems. I used to mainly ski the Arlberg, then been on the Ländlecard last few years. Next year who knows. Half of the Arlberg (Lech/Zürs/Warth) is actually Vorarlberg, too, but just not part of the Ländlecard sadly. This season I actually ended up skiing in Zürs a lot of the time anyhow and just bought daypasses extra. As we all know it was a superbad season and in the Ländlecard resorts none of the good runs all the way down to the valley floor were in for most of the time. As Zürs is higher, there were some pretty good days. Not sure about "hidden gem" anywhere in Vorarlberg, but there are some nice more low key places. Some resorts also just sell a touring ticket to take the lift up once and then go for a tour (if you don´t have the season pass). If you are a weekend warrior only the traffic to the Montafon and also Bregenzerwald usually gets pretty bad, so you have to go there superearly and either leave superearly or superlate or just be stuck in traffic. At least unlike North America, you don´t have to decide until early December which pass you buy. The Ländlecard rate goes up somewhere around December 8th from the early bird price and the Arlberg just has one price anyhow.

Thanks for all the regional input guys! I'll try to leave it be for some time now. Will prolly do some recon and hiking trips in the area once I land some wheels, to get a better grip on the overall scenery. To be continued...

Well I stand corrected on most of what I said. I guess that’s what happens when a underinformed American chimes in!

Well, ski is all I am.
Regarding Vberg versus Aberg, Aberg is all that and a bag of chips but lordy the snow gets schralped fast there.Merde De Glace On the Freak When Ski
