The Problem is the general northern hemispheric setup. we dont get out of that quickly. maaybe at the end of january the polar vortex comes south a bit so the alps get hit from the west, nothing cold, but at leats some moisture.

The PNW is the place to be in the next few weeks....
Have been planning a mid Feb trip to Cham... are you saying things aren't looking great overall for snow in the overall picture? Any idea how their seasons been so far?

Jenewein has great skis for rent. Don't know prices, but it's one of the few that has a wide assortment of fat skis in the Alps. Martin is a great guy as well.
Thanks for the tips. Given the current forecast probably not getting a guide. Trip is locked in due to my wife's work thing so we'll make the best of it. Probably just rent some carving skis for the few days we'll be there.

Is that what it is? Was up today and was amazed at how hazy it all looked.

By the way, it is now possible to ski corn snow... in January.

It’s not supposed to look this hazy.

Also, Buster, you might remember the sign in the second photo, and the fact that when you saw it in person last season, it was basically buried...

Great Morning in Verbier Trees (lol). Only had time for 2 laps before work though

(I also skied really badly )

Sounds like someone has paid a high price in Chamonix Valley though so puts it in perspective

It is exactly the place people go for a quick lap before work and exactly the place I thought would be dodgy as f...

Maybe it's a good thing I had to work today.

    Attelas couloir slid?

I'm back at work but had a fun morning in some podunk station nearby.

Staggared openings and the crew did a great job getting everything secured.

    Apparently so...

2 slides, 3 caught, all 3 'escaped with injuries'

Edit - Called it. 3 locals on a quick lap before work. (Weird feeling being right but wishing you hadn't been)

Edit Edit - not only that but I know them a little bit. They re alive and posting the tale on facebook today. A closer call that I think they re prepared to admit yet but well....Praise Jebus I s'pose
