Wow! Today was awesome. It started out butt-ass cold. I so did not want to get out of my sleeping bag, but nature called. Definitely my first time doing that in the snow. At least it's easy to dig a hole in the ground at FKNA.

My new tent held up great to the snow. We had a couple inches when I woke up and it was snowing hard. I can report that the Kingdom 6 sheds snow well and handles winds of 20-30 with gusts higher.

    This morning:

At lunchtime, Schralph going big and landing soft:

A full TR will follow, but I'm too tired to be inspired right now. Schralph has some great pics of our hike/ski from yesterday so hopefully he'll start the thread.

it snowed. a lot. all day. I'm really tired. can't complain about face shots in May!

can complain about all the jacknuggets (dookey's term) that got re-routed from the HWY 50 closure to 88 ...
and trying to drive over the spur & carson pass with no chains, spinning out bald street front tires flooring it up slick roads, stopping in the middle of slide paths and not pulling off the road to chain up, or driving with chains on going 20mph on dry pavement for 15 miles and holding up the entire line. Bigger shitshow than holiday weekend drivers during the ski season proper.

good seeing everyone, will put up a photos/stoke thread magnana. I'm going to try to sleep now after a long weekend.

freaking sinecure just called me to brag that he and splat got 2nd gondi car to the summit yesterday when they popped the top (no one thought it would happen).

I believe the words he used were "insane," "blower," and "bottomless."

He's out there today with the maggot crew riding up to McCoy ... gonna be a really good day today!

Updated report after the bluebird pow was shredalated. Sinecure and I got second cabin to the top, tucked the road to P2 and proceeded to rip the shit out it. Only thing missing was Punani, but I've already called him to rub his nose in it. Kill fucking day!

Driving up past chair 2 at 7:30 am

This is May 16 and exactly what I was hoping to see as I drove up to the main lodge.

Going up. How far? To the fucking top!

I owe Sinecure an apology. I was so excited on our first run, I was clicking the on/off button instead of the shutter button. These are from our second run.

Third run, we caught up with Turx and Cinders. We did the high T to 23 and Turx and Dave dropped in the other side of the chair and Cinders got the tracked snow in the dropouts with us but also got the best shot I took all day with my old pos camera.

Today was infuckingsane. I just walked in the door and too wiped to post pics or a report. But it was out of control good.

OK, two pics. Splat was psyched to be on the 2nd gondy car that they were sending to the top. And the reward was blower! FKNA!

The above picture is from our first lap. Unfortunately, it got really tracked out after that.

By the second lap, we had to cross at least 5 other tracks on the way down. Here's a couple of Splat from lap 2:

    Doesn't he look sad?

By the third lap, you can be sure that Cinders was hating it:

So we headed over to Dave's area. Again, Cinders hating life on lap 4:

So you can be sure that by noon it was terrible. So bad that Splat decided to take a break and let Turx' friend Dave (future maggot) demo the 191 all carbon Lhasa Fats. Dave and I did an untracked lap over by 12 (no photos) and then hit what I think is called Roger's on our way back to meet Splat at the Mill:

Dave riding demo Bros on the way to Roger's around noon:

So hard to find nice snow so late in the day:

We all finished up the day with another run over by 12. No pics of that (we were being safe). But on the way we passed the guys working on this huge jump on the back side. I saw guys hitting this thing earlier - insane. That's not a toy, mini groomer.

That's about it for my pictures. I didn't take too many this trip. Hopefully Schralph will post some from our Saturday hike. 45Hill was amazingly generous with his time and toys. He met us before his kid's little league game, gave us a ride a couple miles up the trail on his snowmobiles, and dropped us off for our hike up the shoulder of the Sherwins. If you are drinking at Grumpy's, tip your bartender well. He deserves it.

Here's my one picture from Saturday of a Peruvian miner:
