Pedro signs with the Mets
All indications are that Pedro Martinez will leave the Red Sox and sign a four-year, $56 million contract with the Mets, according to a report in the Boston Herald.
why make ten turns when you only need to make NONE!

So Steinbrenner and the Yankees, by offering Petey 50 mil., got what they wanted; either Boston would have to completely fuck up its payroll to keep Martinez or he'd no longer be pitching against (even if not for) the Yankees.

He's not worth a 4 year contract. Period. Frees up 50 million to play with. Spankees are in decline. Deal with it.
