Very nice quiver. We have a few pieces all of which get regular use. Not big on decorative pieces myself, but there is a lot of excellent pieces in there.

What the heck did they do with it all? If that's a quarter of it they had an absolute ton of it.

That's amazing. If you want to get rid of one of the big braising pots let me know. Lost mine in the divorce.

A metric shit ton I think is the actual measurement.

They liked to cook with it, but mainly it was just something my mom liked to collect. Looks like SB’s got the same love.

I got a big one earlier this year (inspired by 2018 trip to Morocco for Ann's 50th). It's awesome. Whole cut up chicken tagine is now a regular menu item at our place. Did lamb steaks Wednesday night.

My MiL just gave me a cast iron she bought in 1978 at Little America on I80 as they moved from NYC to SLC in their VW van.
This thing rules. As does she.

they're really lazy at cleaning them?

we have 4 pans, 3 10" and one 12". My wife likes cooking burgers, a lot. Sometimes all 4 are dirty with burger detritus.

I miss mine. Doc said I had to give my beloved 12" frypan due to elevated iron levels.

Yeah that's what they told me too, but it turned out I had Hemochromotosis, which eventually almost killed me. Keep getting your iron checked and if it keeps going up (particularly, if your Ferritin level does), follow up on it. Very treatable condition but you have to know you have it first.

Are you the same person as the original Yardsale?

Thx for posting that. Not to be nosey but what did your the treatment involve? Drugs or diet?

I see on the link you posted that draining blood is #1 way to treat it?

Damn, TGR continues to deliver. I clicked on this thread totally at random, only to discover that my favorite cast iron pan was really a collectable Sidney cast iron pan from pre-1959. Pretty cool.

Semi-related; are any of you fans of high carbon steel pans (a la Mauvel 1830)? Very similar heat distribution to cast iron but perhaps better non-stick qualities.
