Help Gael get his service dog back

Long story short, my friend Gael had his service dog taken away from him for supposed leash infractions. He had a great service dog named Elon who accompanied him EVERYWHERE. Elon was hiking along side him as he rode his handcycle to the top of Hidden Peak at Snowbird. If any of you ski the Bird you know this is a monumental achievement for a handcyclist. Anyhow the rest of the story is here at his petition:

    Done and done!

All the way to the top by hand, impressive. I can't do it with legs, not without a push near the top.

    Done.

Seriously though? Taking away a service dog for doing exactly what is was tasked to do? That's low.

Signed, hope the dog is returned.

I don't know what the watershed ruling is on service dogs and I don't particularly care. Sounds like he'll take the steps necessary and they should give him the chance.

Law enforcement here starts out at $16/hr, that price doesn't buy genius.

Canine Companions for Independence, as the link says, were the ones to provide and then take away the dog. Perhaps they hire from the same pool as your law enforcement?

Thanks guys for all helping my friend out. He's been really sad with Elon gone and was starting to lose hope on getting him back. It has brighten up his mood to know that so many people what to help bring Elon home. It really means a lot to Gael and he says thanks.

The first picture is them training together and the second is when they make it to the top of Hidden Peak at the end of the summer. I don't know what CCI is talking about Elon looks perfectly safe on top of the mountain with Gael.

Done. Best of luck to Gael and Elon!
To those men who are born for mountains, the struggle can never end, until their lives end. To them it holds the very quintessence of living - the fiery core, after the lesser parts have been burned away.

has gael pursued legal options? I'm sure he's tried everything- just feel like actually taking them to court to get his dog back might be more effective than a bunch of random internet people signing an online document, no?

hope he gets the dog back!

done!!!! Definitely pursue legal action and possibly public media. I can't think of a better life for a dog than to get petted by patients in a hospital and run around in the mountains.

Seriously. Some local news shaming in the form of a human interest story might do the trick as well.

Done. I think comments help too.

Comments: "You guys are sure brewing some bad PR with this one. Unless you really think the dog's life is in jeopardy I think you should reunite these two. "Life Unleashed" indeed."

    Also done

CCI's position is nothing short of stupid. I just don't see the issue. How is Gael's treatment of Elon bad or dangerous for the dog?

Is there some way we can help Gael buy Elon outright from CCI?

I also agree that we should unleash the social media machine that is TGR.

    done.

This is very bad for them. I have no conception of how you can take a healthy dog away after five years together. This boggles my mind.

posted to my Facebook as well.

I want him to get Elon back and make it so those fucks can never touch him again. What a shitty deal. The more I read the more pissed off I get.

    Let's blow this shit up.
