    I need a doctor...STAT!

I'm feeling a cold coming on. Throat's a little sore and can start to feel it in my nose as well.

I tried Echinacea a couple years ago, but it didn't work. Maybe I didn't take enough, I dunno..........

I can't waste a sick day(s) actually being sick dammit. It's dumping in the hills!

    What works? HELP!!!

Zinc. Lots of it!! NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ask the pharmacist which loszenges (sp?) taste the worst, because those are the ones that will work the best. Don't chew them at all, just suck on them till they're gone.

And obviously, Vitamin C in mass quantities.
    Looking California, feeling Minnesota.

Echinacea and almost all that herbal stuff is a total fraud. You might as well eat Twinkies.
I don't know about the zinc lozenge things, I've heard good stuff but never seen anything that really confirms their efficacy. Do they do more than just relieve symptoms?
The only thing that's ever worked for me has been plenty of sleep and liquids, but if you've really got a virus you're probably just going to have to ride it out. Being well rested helps (I remember I used to be well rested, sometimes).

    Hall's "Sootherbs" - Zinc, Echinacea & Vitamin C.

Not the tastiest, but they work. I suggest a regimen of those & a bagful of the Hall's Vitamin C Citrus drops.

I thought I might get efficacy in as a first, but it has four previous uses.

    Check out this one:

In addition to the women I wish I had fucked, there are a couple of skanks I wish I could "de-fuck".

Oh, and efficacious, it's derived from efficacy, which is used in pharmacology to descibe the ability of a drug or compound to confer a response following binding to a receptor.

Twinkies work well for colds, although for dry, tickly throat I'd prescribe Ho Hos.

Or, since it's the season, Ho Ho Ho's might work.

3 ho's at once might be expensive, though

In my experience, C and ho's go well together. Don't know about the zinc.

Zicam nose spray works - it'll turn a 4 day cold into a 2 day cold... really. How do I know? I'm huffing on it now.

I just don't get that. Sticking a bottle up my beak has always struck me as disturbing. I hear it works tho.

dex is right. not about the e though.
    colds are viruses.
boosting your immune system after the virus attacks is goign to have minimal effects.
best thing is not to let your immune system dip to begin with. sleep, vitamins, as a daily regimine.
the other stuff just helps symptoms, not really getting rid of the problem. that just happens on its own. unless its more than a cold.
i'm not a doctor, i have no idea whats going on.

i say railing lines of a hookers ass is the best placebic option, by far.

    - 7,000 degree shower (so that you are sweating like a bastard)

    - fruit, lots of it

    - real green tea, 100% natural

Yep. I use those, vitamin C, garlic, tons of water and this last time I tried Umka (sp?) - which you can find in the health food store. Seemed to work. I had two little 4-5 hour segments where I felt sick and had a fever and then it went away - never got to the full blown cold/flu stage.
