Per SKI - Top Ten Resorts: Best Snow

So I thought it was interesting that 7 of the 10 "best snow resorts" were located in Utah based on this article by SKI Magazine (online):

    http://www.skinet.com/ski/galleries/...allery-content

    What say you?

    Oh .......and War Eagle.

    Apparently "Cascade Concrete" doesn't qualify

    But "Sierra Cement" does.

    Here is the list:

    1. Alta
    2. Snowbird
    3. Powder Mountain
    4. Brighton
    5. Solitude
    6. Kirkwood
    7. Deer Valley
    8. Snowbasin
    9. Mammoth
    10. Aspen Highlands

Still think the list is a bit odd. I agree, SLC chamber of commerce is doing a good job!!

Kirkwood and Mammoth? Or Squaw and Mammoth?

edit: first guess was right apparently.

Given the stasis of resorts and resort development, why bother anymore (aside from cheap, easy way to get people talking)

You just asked why ski magazine and their internet site that sells ads would use silly things to generate content.

What's more funny to me is why alta/snowbird/solitude/brighton would differ in snow quality. It literally is the same snow.

Alta snow has a little sticker on each flake

yeah, stupid of me to question the brilliant short term decisions leading to longterm lasting success in the ski industry.

alta's snow rarely touches a snowboard, which is why they are #1.

Its better to be left off these bullshit lists.

Look at Bridger Bowl for example, couple write ups in magazines now every kid from Vermont to Massachusetts wants to go to school at MSU.

Agreed. Any top ten list that doesn't include Jackson is pure advertising money-influenced bullshit.
Shut your eyes and think of somewhere. Somewhere cold and caked with snow.

    Ya sure
The one time I take a trip to Utah and I arrive on day 19 of an inversion. Place hasn't seen a snowflake for 3 fucking weeks. Couldn't see the mountains from my hotel room in SLC due to the pollution trapped in the valley.

Yeah, 270" of snow before the first week of January is something to complain about. Cue reality.

Go to Colorado next time, or rent some skins/touring gear from the maggots at www.wasatchpowderskis.com and go find some good snow.
