Saw them about 2 yrs ago here in Tahoe. Back when I was on FB I kept more up to date on them.

Haven’t seen Sierra Fred in years unfortunately.

Was also surprise to walk up on lift at solitude the other day and my by-chance chair riders were two other outlaw x NTN skiers. We all laughed and rejoiced.

Skied some very nice powder the last 3 days here at solitude. The early snow has us with a wide array of terrain openings and excellent coverage. Can’t recall a time skiing untracked in honeycomb canyon in November!

    GF is locked and loaded.

Picked up a deal on Voile TTS flopper clamps since I got those Crispy shivers that no one wants. Might as well get sum use out of them bitches.

They appear to be those US Army surplus skis that were around years ago. Maybe made by Asnes?

Well known for being stiff as hell and unfriendly for down hill skiing.

They are Karhu foam core metal edge skis with 1.5 chamber and a metal plate in the binding area. Pretty nice boards, they are military surplus but not the Asnes version.

At $75 shipped i am thinking of getting a set for myself.

Good to hear. Those Asnes skis were made for travel, not turns. The Karhu apparently are decent for going down hill (for an old straight ski).

Some people like to have partners, some don't. Choose your skis accordingly. Maybe that's why I ski death wishes.

So what would be a good ski to mate with the Crispi shivers and Voile TTS bindings?

Thinking toward a fishscale base for mixed tree runs and meadow skips plus bike/hike trail incursions with zero lift rides. I like the Voile skis but not real sure which one.

V6 BC or Ultravector BC (you can even get that in all white if you want that military look).

Altai Koms are really fun but anything more than a two buckle plastic boot and pins is overkill. Maybe 3 pin cable. They climb exceptionally well for a negative pattern fishscale ski.

I have a V6 BC and it’s the shit for doing snow surveys and generally beatering around in the woods. I use em with a T4 and G3 Targa. Those red boots would be good with that set up.

FYI I got these boot shells (could prolly find liners for small cost) free here in SLC. 27.5 synergy. Click image for larger version.

Also got some vector BC fish scales 181 with switchback that I don’t really use. Super Cheap skis but would need some reasonable cash for the bindings. Click image for larger version.
