Last Year for the Canadian Open Freeskiing Championship
Shameless plug here.
So, I just found out that this might be the last year for the Canadian Open at Red because the registrations have been soft lately. We're in our 10th year with a week to go before the event and we have 38 registrants right now. The junior part of the event sold out weeks ago. Not to sound desperate, but aren't there any maggots here that want to go for a chance at a slice of the $10,000 cash prize and potentially save the future of this event?
We're taking online registrations at:

Already signed up! The event is very expensive for a ski bum though. Came to almost $350 after tax.
Cya there!

Yup signed up too. Its definitely more expensive than other Canadian comp Fernie $200 with 4 day pass, Lake Louise $200 with 5 day pass.
On the other hand it would suck for this to be over, always a killer time and there'd be no more staring down Robbie with a tightening sphincter

Definitely thinking about it, but yeah... don't have any accom lined up. To keep the winter possible/affordable it usually means truck or couch. If anyone has any ideas on splitting for fairly inexpensive that might make it an option. I have this unfortunate reoccuring history with the Red comp and falling halfway down Mt. Roberts from the top. Guess it depends on snow and accom.

I may have a spot or 2 in Fernie... don't hold me to it, but I'll look into it and get back to you.
Edit: Nevermind, I'm a moron.

This was going to be a tough squeeze on the calendar but I stopped trying to make the dates work after the checkout cost was almost $400.
Hope it works out for next year though, open events are important. They give us suckasses a chance to mingle with the big boys.

Hey so how was the comp? Good turnout? Any results?
There's nothing better than sliding down snow, and flying through the air

Hopefully it went well. Interesting and positive to see Stikeman Elliot step up on the sponsorship.

Seems to be a bit less coverage this year, but Doglotion has an article up:
