FKNA RB. It was a hot August day and that hound was thirsty. I since saw a photo of Giguere's dog eating his food out of it...bastard!

That's just awesome. I find those shots with the cup so funny, especially when you see the guys guarding the cup at various stadiums always wearing white gloves and treating it so tenderly. Then it gets parked in a gravel parking lot with a dog drooling all over it (I'd probably drool too). Good job. Great pic.

In any case, if you're ever really in this situation make sure you at least bargain in a couple of fluffers.

Thanks Sinecure, it was an awesome day! The Neidermayers brought the Cup to Fernie on Aug 28, downtown and at the ski resort. Originally I was hoping to get a shot from the Lost Boys Cafe where they took it for a chairlift ride and a small ceremony (I have a bunch of photos of them downloading the chair just before this one). But just when my partner & I got to the top (via truck) we got a call for a kid with a broken wing in the Slopestyle Bike park ( completely the other direction) Shit, if there was one guy who needed to see the Cup it was me. Actually I've seen it before at the HHOF, but never up close & personal. After we got this kid packaged up, I was driving him to the parking lot to his friend's mother's car and that's when the Neidermayers were just arriving to go up. I asked the kid if he'd like to meet Scott & the Cup if he would come over with it to the truck- needless to say Scott made his day. After this we didn't want to drive all the way back up, so I went back to our base office and called the electrician running the lift and asked him to call me when they were getting back on to come down. Since they came down before the crowd, it was a piece of cake to ask them to pose for a photo op as there were maybe only 20 or 30 people around. They were in a bit of a rush to go so we were really the only ones to get a personalized photo with them & the Cup. I heard later that there was none of that at the top. That's my avalanche rescue dog Mojo with us in the photo- he only drools when there's food involved (Doggie stoke!) As for the gravel, that's a good point you make. There was a discussion as to whether or not that's the real deal that the players travel with. It's certainly a very good replica. There was a dude in th entourage with white gloves, but maybe that's just for show- the players handled the Cup the whole time I saw them. I suppose you could look at photos of the Cup on nhl.com and you could compare the base which looks pretty dinged up in this photo. Also, there was a photo of Giguere's pooch actually eating his kibble from the Cup this past summer on nhl.com- sacreligious if it wasn't the replica?

That cup spent a few hours at the bottom of Mario's pool in Pittsburgh when the Pens won it. I think it can handle some gravel.
