Still missing as of a few hours ago. Last night's conditions were pretty vicious, hope she found shelter somewhere.

What the F...still lost? My wife is on the way down the hill and it was white out conditions for an hour or so causing the munchkins to call it. The valley is blue sky, so good weather is coming.
Any word?

...she's a strong athlete who works as a ski instructor.

"Tahoe Nordic Search and Rescue" ( http://www.tahoenordicsar.com/ ) had a pretty big setup in the parking lot all day. A helicopter couldn't search because of conditions. Hopefully there's a break in the weather tomorrow, but it's been over 24 hours now. Hoping for the best.

I just got an email from my friend on SAR and they searched all day yesterday. He can't go today, but others are still out there looking.

TAHOE CITY, Calif. — Placer County authorities located the body of a snowboarder, who went missing on Tuesday afternoon after she became separated from her friends at Alpine Meadows Ski Resort, according to an official with the resort.
25-year-old Shawnte Marie Willis was found dead on Thursday morning by search and rescue workers, Alpine Meadows Spokeswoman Rachael Woods said.

Is it wrong that I feel worse about this because she's a chick. Damn I wish somebody would have found her before she passed on. I bet her boyfriend feels terrible. RIP.

Heartbreaking. I hope her passing was swift and painless. Vibes to all friends and family.
It would be nice if the collective could find a way to post an e-card sympathy note somehow to the families of our lost friends in winter sports.
It happens all too often...

So sad for Shawnte and all her friends and family.

Bummer. I got turned around just beyond the ropes at Alpine, and a small ravine prevented me from getting back to the resort. Ended up following a creek to the road, and a short hike back. I wish it would have been that easy for this gal. Shame.
