hey NJ mags looking for restaurant recs

    Hey NJ

So my younger brother (and his wife) is living in NJ and in typical fashion I am trying to figure out a last minute gift idea that isn't totally stale. I was going to try to find a good dining facility near their apartment in Secaucus and get them a $100 gift certificate.

I've been trying the google map searching (there are a fuck load of "restaurants") and have found Casa Dante but having never been to NJ I have no idea. I am kinda leaning to something nicer with good food ethnicity doesn't really matter anything goes.

    Any thoughts

Court Street in Hoboken - awesome food and very solid wine list. $100 would go a good ways there..

mignon steakhouse in rutherford is very good, or at least it was 4-5 years ago. i used to eat there with my girlfriend at least once a week.

it has a sister restaurant called the village gourmet, just up the street (same owner). a little less upscale, but also very good.

why are you looking near their apt.? do they not have a way of getting into the city, or something preventing them from going to dinner in manhattan? definitely many more options there.

    my other nj suggestions are:
mediterraneo in ridgewood is really good. its farther away, but real easy to get to by train from secaucus.

    a) Trinity (if it is still there) was a nice place to dine a few year back. It's underneath 333 River st. in Hoboken and has outdoor dining with a great view of lower manhattan.

    b) Riverview diner. Seriously. It's on River Road in Weehawken. Awesome classic NJ diner.

You know the best food city in the country (possibly world) is a ten minute train ride away form hoboken, right?
