    Ski-flying Mt Superior

I am not sure if this qualifies as skiing, but it's a cool POV on Mt Superior regardless...

It is no measure of ones health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society.

    Gigantic. Brass. Balls.

I really want to know how one learns how to do this because it looks amazing/terrifying...

Skydive a bunch until you can safely fly really small parachutes (this will take a while). Then just buy a speedwing, learn the basics of mountain wind/weather patterns and paragliding launches and youre good to go.

Nuts! Do you think it'd be possible to follow a regular skier down some thing like that? Like a cheaper heli type point of view but with closer to the skier? I imagine you'd need a little bit bigger parachute.

Awesome to see a new perspective of one of my favorite lines. Nicely done. Almost dropped right into Suicide!

They call it speedflying for a reason. You move really fast.

Couloirman took me out a few years ago to learn.

    Speedflying starts at 1:50.

You'll see the part where I'm basically straightlining the run and he cruises past me.

Pretty lame terrain, but it was my first day introduction to the sport.

Anyway, skiers follow speedflyers, not the other way around.

sure, just check the skipopow thread on this forum:

(when that vid was first posted some didn't appreciate it because "the skiers were too small")

better yet, you can follow another speedflyer for even better effect (i know they tried it in the OP's movie, but this is better):

being done in the US is a novelty though, so kudos to the OP's vid's guys

Maybe it doesn't qualify as skiing but it certainly qualifies as beauty. Thanks for posting.

I see that and cant help but think what happens if instead of having your skis hit the top of the ridge and skim across the snow you miss your mark by 2 inches and your body comes to an abrupt halt, your parachute flies over the spine and then drags you down into a twirling mass of screaming pain.

Im sure it is much more controlled than it looks, just like a non skier looking at someone riding a big exposed face.

But I want no part of that. It looks awesome, and kudos to those who can, I just can't.

Go watch the segment on Claim where the dude is speedriding on the North Face of the Aiguille du Midi - he checks a little hard and ends up wrapped in his chute on a hanging glacier with a few thousand vert of fresh air below.

My thoughts exactly. Great, cowardly, minds think alike.
