    Google Foreclosure Map

    HOLY SHIT.

    link to full US

    Try Detroit

    -- OR --

    1. Punch in any US address into Google Maps.

    2. Your options are Earth, Satellite, Map, Traffic and . . . More. (Select “More”)

    3. The drop down menu gives you a check box option for “Real Estate.”

    4. The left column will give you several options (You may have to select “Show Options”)

    5. Check the box marked “Foreclosure.”

Doesn't include REO's sold by banks, etc.

that's crazy. Also really helpful, because yesterday my boss said "I wish we had a map of the city showing where all the foreclosures are."

That data is incomplete - it's not from county recorder, I know of several foreclosures in 84098 that are not reflected on the map.

It's not a full account. Doesn't include REO sold by banks and I'm sure it pulled it's data at a certain point. More of a general accounting.

Yeah. Google may be smart, but they aren't omnipresent. I'd triple that amount in a lot of places if you're going to include homes in serious trouble.

Wow, if there's a lot missing, I don't think I want to see the full list.
    No longer stuck.

Is there a way to get the specific addresses of foreclosures in UT without having to pay some middleman for it? Seems like this is (or should be) public data.

Good idea. Though, like others have said, the listing isn't comprehensive. There are even a few listings that are inactive, one I know which was pulled amidst the robo signing.

If one wanted to put together a list of all foreclosures, where would you look? The local paper lists foreclosures, but are all foreclosures listed in the paper as they come up?

Sweet. I can buy a house in Reno for less than it costs to fill my car up here.

there are some shenanigans going on here

one "foreclosure" in Chester VT gives me this photo

which unless I'm wildly mistaken doesn't look a damn thing like anywhere in VT I've been

Theres another one up in Killington ON the mountain for $14k. First off there's no ski on ski off at Killington, and second theres no way its 14k even IN a foreclosure

I think some sites are "inventing" houses and using it to drive clicks to their sites
For sure, you have to be lost to find a place that can't be found, elseways everyone would know where it was

What picture? There is no picture.

Have you just imagined there was a picture? That looked nothing like Vermont? Are you on prescription tranqs? It's possible.

They're published in the paper. NOD (notice of defaults, pre-foreclosure) are public and are recorded at the county level. There are a lot of investors that buy this way. Approach mom and pop just before they lose the house. Basically buy it for what they owe the bank (take any equity that may have been there, sometimes quite a bit, but odds of that are slim these days) and rent the house back to them. I've never bothered with any of these prey on the weak tactics. I've bought all my property off the MLS. It's pretty easy to identify REOs on the MLS (even the public versions) and there are no shortage of great deals out there. Current rates plus current REO prices = rental cash flow heaven.

And yes the list is just a drop in the bucket. I zoomed into the little area where I'm focused on buying and unless this is just a very small time window it's hardly showing any of the foreclosures that I've seen on the MLS... 1/10th maybe.
