They look like shearwaters, most likely Audobon's or possibly wedge-tailed. I've asked the true experts and will let you know what they say.

Scientists now have decisive molecular evidence that humans and chimpanzees once had a common momma and that this lineage had previously split from monkeys.

Thanks. Whatever they are, they're really good at flying. And shitting.

Ha! I was right, and wrong. Here's what one of the top birders on the planet had to say when I said Audobon's and wedgie:

There appears to be two species here. (at least I think so). The one on the right and the birds in flight in the second photo look like Galapagos Shearwater (Puffinus subalaris), formerly known as Audubon's Shearwater. The other, the bird on the left, appears larger and has pink legs. It looks to me like a light morph Wedge-tailed Shearwater.
Svengali's bird is closely related to one of my favorite chicks: the big-breasted bed thrasher.

Those dudes can ride the thermals. I don't think they even beat their wings.

I got paced by a Pelican the other day in my car on the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. Thing must have caught a draft off a truck, or a sweet updraft from under the bridge. Never flapped his wings, and was cruising along looking in my window while I was doing 70 mph. Awesome.

    Whatbird.com

This site is great. Has a great tool for identifying birds by a variety of characteristics, even just by the calls. It is also a mini bird encyclopedia.
