Swimming does a good job keeping me at an even keel weight wise. I think bouncing around with your weight is more dangerous than being slightly overweight consistently. I'm about 6'2" and 185-190. I'm satisfied with that weight. I think if you really want to lose weight running is the way to go. I've seen lots of people who swim all the time and are still on the chubby side.

I too have put on waaaay too much weight in the last year. When I got back from AK last summer I was around 200 lbs and in damn good shape from hiking and eating tons of fresh salmon. Im only 6', but 200 is pretty good weight for my frame. Over the past year my girlfriend moved in and started cooking pretty much all my meals, that coupled with an increase in laziness and I have ballooned up to 235. I really need to get this weight off because my dad let himself go and ended up over 300 lbs with a bum heart (4 heart attacks and an aortic anuerism by age 50).
I feel much less healthy now and it sucks. I hope to lose about 40 lbs this winter, it shouldnt be too hard because I will be skiing 5 days a week and doing alot of touring with ridiculous pace setters like Kyle Miller.

well you asked and it worked for me
eat the recommended amounts of a normal balanced diet cut out all the sugar and my weight goes from overweight to normal weight ,good cholesteral went up bad cholesteral went down ,blood sugar came down 2 whole numbers and my doctor likes me again I did it to bring down the blood sugar #'s and the weight loss/good cholesteral #'s were just a by product of the health aspect
it should be a no brainer but with 20% of amercia weighing in as obese it would appear ... common sense is not so common eh?
I must have posted this info 6 times so anybody who is tired of reading it ... go grab a snack eh?

I'm 25 over where I was mid season a year ago... damn wedding planning
I'm only 5'7" so that's like carrying a whole set of spare tires. I started mma and working out regularly again a week ago, so I'm down about 3 so far and my goal is to be down 15 by New Years.www.dpsskis.com

I was 6'2" 250 for years, then I bought a dh bike and with no lift service pushed all summer. I lost 25 pounds but then the snow fell but not enough to ski so for about a month and a half I've done yoga a couple times a week but nothing else and I'm back up around 230. I feel pretty good and strong but definitely could lose a couple pounds. I shaved off my beard and even though I'm in smaller pants than I have been in since like 10th grade I've still got that lingering damn neck roll. Less pizza and fast food.

Every thing you needed to know about weight loss was taught in second grade.

I would rather be fat and healthy then skinny and unhealthy. What was his diet before? What activities does he partake in? Did he lose strength?
This is where most people are clueless, they think a calorie is a calorie, weight is weight.
Skinny fat people are the worst.
This is bad, and what you will look like on a twinky diet.
This is good.

Professional gymnasts might be really fit, but I don't think it is fair to call them really healthy.
