Good show. He had some crazy acid trip hillbilly picking banjo as an opener, JD Pinkus(butthole surfers, Melvins) should've been more high. Weeded out a bunch of insta posers. Turns out we had met the sound guy since he just got of tour with the supersuckers, who we have seen a ton.

Also love me some. Hank the 3rd.

Watching Coachella livestream. Doja Cat absolutely crushing it. What a talent.

Maneskin is pretty cool too. Kinda like Iggy Pop meets The Cramps

Saw Jorma and Jack acoustic Saturday night at a small local venue. Those boys are old as shit but they can still play.

    The CONCERT thread

Rayland Baxter was disappointing at Stowe tonight. It is a very weird venue full of vacationers looking for something to do and Stowe “professionals” (read realtors).

The two guitarists on the right came off like this was their first time in a touring band and were whatever the opposite of “tight” is.

Considering we had enjoyed his live show just before Covid struck, this was a let down.

Edited to add - oh and Stowe charged us $25 for two pints of Fiddlehead. Fuck Vail.

Saw him a few weeks ago or so. Even his sad songs are so damn positive. I don’t get it but my wife does. But he really does great interaction with the crowd like I have not really seen before.

    The CONCERT thread

    Saw Tedeschi Trucks last night.

    Few take aways...

    1. She is a FORCE. I couldn't believe how powerful and beautiful her voice was at the same time
    2. Incredible show overall
    3. Derek Trucks is a fucking alien. Most incredible guitar playing I've ever seen. He's just on a whole different level from any of the other great guitarists I've seen.

Kid and I are headed to Tedeschi Trucks Band tonight. Looking forward to it as I’ve never seen them before. Plus, Michael Franti has us feeling so damn good and hopeful.

Michael Franti & Spearhead show with my kid
Did he come out into the audience?

We’ve seen him a few times. The last time he was singing and walking through the crowd and stopped to hug my wife and sing directly to her.

I almost had to crack that lanky ass mofos jaw.

    ^^^.
We read up on his story after the show, and that guy went through a lot growing up. And to be doing what he is doing and the positive vibes he puts out into the world, I give him big ups. Good on him, man. And he is from Oaktown, so bonus ups.

He lost me when his sound turned to sunshine, I like the more political Spearhead hip hop guy.

Yeah, I still like his Beatnigs era best, but he’s still worth a listen.

When we need to communicate with Aliens, Derek Trucks is probably our best bet. Actually, his strumming/picking hand May already be an Alien life form. I’ve been to quite a few shows in my days and have never seen anything like that before. Wow.

His wife is pretty good too!

He does that. Check out the Trey sit in set w/TTB from last year. Might have been at Peach?
