hell yeah! saw them last summer. so good.

the coming show sold out in about 1 hour. i hit refresh for an hour, finally got a session, and during checkout got redirected to a mastercard authorization page, which lost my session connection.

It was nuts. Everything you expect out of a QOTSA concert. Bouncers kicking people out for fighting, moshing, and drunkenness. Feel like I've played back to back hockey games. Ribs are really sore. Place they played in Asheville is mega small. Holds like 1000 people.

Second encore was Sick, Sick, Sick, Song for the Dead, and No One Knows. Jesus.

Bob is playing a Reverend Sensei right there (Fu Manchu). That may be all the inspiration I need to get one since he's got the tone I'm looking for.

Saw Neil Young last night, solo. The only way to see Neil IMHO.

Great show, like spending the evening with an old friend.

Last night Jonathan Richman played Kilby Court in SLC. Showed up around 7, kicked it around the fire pit, and actually realized JR was sitting to my right, great discussion with everyone around the pit, talking about how love should be the motivation behind everything and how sounds have colors. Such an interesting guy, great show with probably 30 people attending. Great entertainer, glad I made the decision to go.

    Wayback machine...

Got some serious flashbacks to my youth courtesy of DSO last night. 9/4/91 Richfield OH. I've always liked early '90s and that's the only era I saw live so it worked for me.

1: Let The Good Times Roll, Jack Straw, Jack A Roe, Walkin' Blues, Friend Of The Devil, Black Throated Wind, Tennessee Jed, When I Paint My Masterpiece, Cold Rain & Snow-> Promised Land
    2: Scarlet Begonias-> Fire On The Mountain, Estimated Prophet-> He's Gone-> Drums-> Jam-> China Doll-> The Wheel-> Throwing Stones-> Not Fade Away
    E: The Weight
    Bonus: Cats

Canon S90, RAW, and probably program mode w/ IS as my manual capabilities were heavily compromised that evening.

Eddie killed and the Oakland crowd sucked last night as usual. But Glen Hansard overshadowed everything and blew me away. His voice and energy live are ridiculous.

Edit to add, night 2 omfg. Huge props to the Paramount Theatre for randomly bumping me up into the front row.

The Montreux Jazz Festival did not disappoint.

Santana + John McLaughlin opened the festival. Love Devotion Surrender tour.

Derek Trucks (rocked) and Santana on night two.

And wrapped it up with Return to Forever last night.

most fun I've had at a concert was Easy-star all stars - cheap tickets and amazing.
The Foals bring a lot of energy into their set - really enjoyed their show
Seeing TV on the Radio next week, never seen them before

I saw Broken Bells last year and though I like the music, as a live show it wasn't that much fun. Too mellow in everything.

I was also at a ween meltdown concert _ http://www.straight.com/article-3698...vancouver-show
hilarious. I wouldn't go see ween again unless it was free.

Furthur last Thursday, great time, good jams, great friends that I used to tour with in the 80's.

Last night we saw Steely Dan at Tanglewood. Awesome band. great tunes, and this time no political spew from Walter Becker, which was nice.

Going to see Bright Eyes and The Mountain Goats on Sunday.

Outdoor show, in the hot July sun is not how I pictured myself seeing Bright Eyes for the first (and probably last) time. Hopefully Conner is sober enough to play.
