So here is the small issue...my friend got this bike as a gift from his former employer after the custom paint job. He is almost positive that it is a S.I.R. but can't be 100% sure.

the thing is specialized has never made a S.I.R. at all. A google search makes this thread number one right now.

Niner makes an SIR, in which case if this is niner 850 bucks is a steal for it.

So some quick question whats the frame material?
    Does it have an EBB?

I dont think its a specialized at all I think it this bike but if its steel with an EBB I am almost certain.

It's got a Niner badge on it if you look closely. As far as I know Niners come in 16.5 and 19, unless 17.5 is an old size.

I appreciate the extra info. The person who owns the bike isn't much of a cyclist and may not have too much info re: the frame. I will confer with him and get back to you.

O.k. so I am totally the idiot who read my friend's email incorrectly. It is a Niner (not specialized). He got the bike atleast 6-9 months ago, so it could have been an older frame. Crossfit (his former employer) did all of the customizing and then gave the bikes out, so who knows how old the frame is.

Bushwacker- $800 is a steal given that the company is claiming that the bike is worth $1700 (for tax purposes). The Tora shock alone, aftermarket, is going for $200.

no I d agree, if you can get some top tube/seat tube measurement I might have someone who wants. thats why I kept trying to get down to what it is.

    Is it steel?

Ok...the bike frame is steel with EBB. Top tube is 17.5'' and seat tube is 22''. It's is listed as a medium S.I.R., so whatever Niner is listing as the secs for a medium frame should be accurate.
