Start Me Up: The Folksmen > The Rolling Stones

Deliberately wry Folksmen make Glimmer Twin look like a numptie in a Jane Fonda workout video:

Start Me Up by The Folksmen (cover)

Start Me Up by The Rolling Stones (original)

    Fleetwood Mac - Dreams

Cover by Erica Falls from NOLA - she plays at Tipitinas and sometimes tours with Galalctic

And by The Accidentals who I heard Friday night at Sisters Folk Fest

The sound quality sucks donkey balls on this - doesn’t do it justice

^^^ it’s way better than the sound in that vid. See my write up in the concert thread.
I got a hug from Savannah (violin, grunge mandolin, guitar, bass) Katie (cello, guitar) and Patty (bass) in the middle of the street for telling them how awesome they are and were my now-fav Dreams cover.

They got their start in their HS strings orchestra when their teacher started an “alternative strings club” - they learned music from Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Nirvana and the like.

I'm sure I've posted this already--Hendrix All Along the Watchtower.
And just about anything Eva Cassidy did. OK maybe a tie on Over the Rainbow. (Sad story--Eva and Judy both)

The original is pretty good too, but the song was made for his voice.

Not sure if it’s better, but it is 3X longer than the original version so you get more Cortez for your currency…

Keller and Leftover Salmon played a great cover of Lithium to end the night at the Neptune in Seattle a few years back. I’d see KW any chance I get

I've seen him a ton over the past 20 years or so. Not knocking his skills, but all his looper stuff and corny schtick wears on me. YMMV
