Here’s a pretty good version. Drummer’s having a blast, NY is too.

Which is the original and which is the cover?
Guy Clark wrote LA Freeway in 1970 but didn’t record it until ‘75
Jerry Jeff Walker recorded in 1972
Clark wrote Desperados Waitin for a Train about the same time. Recorded by Jerry Jeff in 1973, then by Clark in 1975

Playing “which is the cover?” - this version came out a year before…
…this version.

Yep, I think Jagger/Richards gave Parsons rights to use the song for FBB. And Parsons was fired following release.
Personally I’m not a fan of either version.
Nor the covers that came after - they all sound like a bunch of drunks on the verge of passing out lamenting…something.

Another instance - Brown Eyed Handsome Man
Recorded 1956 by Buddy Holly (heard on Jiveradio.org today)
Written by Chuck Berry, who recorded it 1957
Covered by many, but my favorite is from The 40 Acre Mule
Then I found this one, with Chuck and Robert Cray.
Posted because Ms TBS, before she was Ms TBS brought Robert back to her house after he played in Arcata one night.
OK, technically it was her boyfriend who sat in on drums for the show that invited Robert to crash in their spare room

The Jam covering the Beatles original.
Better? Not sure, but it's pretty good.

Pretty cool set up.
Is he finger picking with his left hand when his right is paying the slide bar thingy? Can’t tell how he’s getting sound out of the main guitar without strumming those strings.
Great use of harmonics as well.

Hotel California. With 4 guitars and a conga. On a raft. In the jungle. Make sure you watch the part with the vocals. Good shit right here.

Agree with EWG - good shit. That guy channels Henley’s voice so well.

^^^You don’t have to like the Eagles to enjoy that song
You remember these guys? Used to play a lot at Jambalaya (H St. on the Plaza). That’s where this was recorded.
Not as good as the original or Mayfield’s versions, but reasonably good for a bunch of guys behind The Redwood Curtain. Esp when it was five hrs to either Eugene or SFO.

Oh yeah, I remember seeing them. I thought that the Arcata/Eureka music scene was pretty good, for a place that was often pretty cut off every time there was a good storm. And there were a lot of storms.
There was a new-wave cover band I went to see a lot there - either the Rage or the Rave? Danced a lot to them.
