As long as we're in the ska vein

I like Blondie, but I don't this is one of their better tunes, but I'm sure plenty of people would prefer the cover.

Funny you should mention Galaxie 500.
I have been thinking about Luna's cover of "Bonnie and Clyde", which I own as a single and on an album and listened to for years before I checked out the Serge Gainsbourg original.

FYI, the song has been covered by quite a few interesting folks:

Some songs will never be covered better than the original. This is one, but still fun for original bands to pay homage to the legends that paved the way

I waded through the entire thread yesterday and don't recall seeing it...

This may be considered blasphemy by some, but I totally dig the Manfred Mann version over The Boss's...

Keeping with Dookey's "not necessarily better, just different" tact. Kinda nails the solo at the end!

Nobody should feel obligated post the bullshit metallica Danzig covers: please and thank you.

Thx for doing the legwork. Of course manfred's version is a thousand times better than Bruce's. It's gotta be top 5 for the better covers of all time.

Nina Simone’s version of Strange Fruit is at least equal to the Billie Holiday version.
