    Die blasphemer !!!

I'd say there are a scant few songs by the Beatles done better as covers IMO. Maybe Cockers "she came in through the bathroom window"

Although never released while he was alive (afaik), The Black Crows did a better job with Hard to Handle than Otis Redding. The WWF supestars did Land of 1000 Dances better than Wilson Picket. And as much as they're one of my favorite 2 bands, Al Green kills it in his version of Light My Fire.

I might be blaspheming here, but I prefer SRV's version of "Little Wing" to Hendrix'.

I'd never heard the Redding version until recently, but I prefer it to the cover.

System of a Down's Snowblind and Zelda theme come to mind. Also, Joe Cocker's With a Little Help from My Friends

Most people ignorantly think that NIN covered Cash... Both versions are equally as good in their own way.

the Zelda cover was actually done by Rabbit Joint

I love Cash's cover of Hurt (who cares if it meant something different to Cash...), and of course there's Smashing Pumpkins' version of Landslide (at the risk of this becoming a comprehensive list of covers...)

Hendrix was a god, but Stevie plays Hendrix better than Hendrix. His live performances were off the charts.

Well fuck me, you're right. My brother made the mix CD, so I'll add this to the list of reasons to kick his ass the next time I see him.

-The Man Who Sold The World -Cobain

    -Starman -Bowie

    -Starman -Seu Jorge

-I love Bowie and think the originals are better, but both of these are damn good covers

A huge ditto. Janes Addiction version is OK, but really just doesn't hold a candle to the original Stones studio version.

The Michael Andrews/Gary Jules version of "Mad World" (closing song in Donnie Darko) was infinitely better than the original by Tears For Fears.

As for the INXS mention of "Never Tear Us Apart", fuck you.

NIN Hurt Meaning? LISTEN to the words...it is about Heroin abuse, and what it not only does to yourself, but to the people around you and their forever outlook on the type of person you will always be.

Johnny Cash had an amazing take on it, and it did relate to his history, but in no way is that version better than Trent's.

As for OTHER Trent songs to check out that have that kind of passion (albeit NOT a cover, sorry), check out "Something I Can Never Have".

    NOW,

As for covers better than the original? Suck it, Mr. Jagger ...

You should have been here yesterday!

Uh, you're welcome. Did you actually listen to the version I posted?
We heard you in our twilight caves, one hundred fathom deep below, for notes of joy can pierce the waves, that drown each sound of war and woe.

Yep, definitely all subject to individual taste. I've been listening to the Stones for years and always dug their stuff, esp. the pre disco era ("Some Girls" album). Very trippy little video.
