Covers that are better than the original

Good idea. I prefer Nirvana’s cover of the man who sold the world to the original Bowie version. All Nirvana covers are good

It makes perfect sense...until you think about it.

I suspect there's logic behind the madness, but I'm too dumb to see it.

fuck people, how hard is it to embed? I don't like clicking on youtube links just to find out what song it is. If on a PC, just hit the little film reel icon. If on a phone, just put [video] tags around your youtube link.

That said, at least knowsam put the song in with the link. And that Cat Power version of Satusfaction is really interesting, as mentioned earlier the best covers are ones that reinterpret the song, not just play it. Not sure if it's the best. Also like the idea of the symphony arrangement for Teen Spirit, but it's definitely not better than the original.

    and from the comments:
Ozzy Osbourne misheard the lyrics and so if you listen to the Sabbath version, you can hear him sing "I was born without you baby / But my feelings were a little bit too strong" instead of "I was warned about you baby / But my feelings are a little bit too strong".

Hurdy Gurdy Man. o.g. Donovan vs. Butthole Surfers. Butthole Surfers for the win. Kinda lighter than other BHS tunes but still gives a pretty good dose of a holistic sonic assault on the senses.

Dusted off Gnarls Barkley's debut recently.

The other night I "stumbled" upon this gem of a rousing cover whilst watching Spike Lee's joint, Da Sweet Blood of Jesus. It was the best thing about the film, too...:

Interestingly enough, I had no idea that Spike's film was a remake of the 70s cult classic Ganja and Hess, so in hindsight it made perfect sense that he would include this cover in his version...

    Here's the original:

E-Double, K. Murray, and Reggie Noble lending their distinctive flows to one of raps's seminal tracks.
They let loose with the original lyrics over the original beat, but throw in a few verbal changes here and there. Mostly I dig their flows better than the original...
