Nice! I'm guessing the point of the platform is also storage? I'd like to do something like this to my little Suzuki.

Here's some photos from my Outback:
I'd been using two air mattresses but they don't line up right and are a pain to deflate/fold up so right now I'm using a cushion from a papasan chair, I may need to add some foam to the end of the platform as the cushion doesn't quite reach the end of the platform
I added hinges on the back of the platform for easy access to anything stored underneath
My boots fit right underneath and close to a 12v outlet so I can run my dry sticks to dry my liners or warm them up in the morning
At night I pull the headrests off the front so my 5'10" frame fits without having to go diagonal
Drawer pulls out for easy access to Jetboil, Coleman propane tanks, and other food items
And of course the Pièce de résistance:
For sure, you have to be lost to find a place that can't be found, elseways everyone would know where it was

The 08 outback I have sleeps 2 with the seats down, and I'm 6'. We just put everything in the front seat when sleeping.
This picture = so much win.

Didn't read the thread, but just saw a commercial for new foresters, featuring the Pogues! Subaru rules!
I'm in a band. It's called "Just the Tip."

nice pics/ideas everybody!
last winter i built a sleeping platform for my 2 door explorer, and it turned out pretty well... made it just tall enough so i can put my 33" spare tire underneath. well, this year i took the seat bottoms out and am in the process of building a platform that just takes up half of the cargo area, and putting the spare on the roof rack so there is more head room. i'll post pics up eventually, but i do love seeing other people's ideas.

That is freaking awesome! Does your Subi have a shift-lock on the shifter by any chance or a release button for the auto? If it does, how did you manage to get it to work with the ski pole handle?
You have inspired me to do this on my imprezza but Im not totally sure how to get around the buttons, other than drilling holes in a pole hanlde and cutting in half to get it to fit.
Perhaps some McGyvering is due this weekend.

Shift knob just screwed off, I've got a gated shifter so no shift lock button
all I did was pull the grip off the pole, at the top of the pole there's a hard piece of plastic where the strap screwed in. I simply drilled out a small hole, tapped with a 3/8 tap, and removed the excess length. If I had to guess my final length was 4" give or take. Then all you had to do was screw the 4" shaft onto the shifter and then install the grip over the shaft. For sure, you have to be lost to find a place that can't be found, elseways everyone would know where it was

That outback platform looks pretty good.
Slept in mine last night for the first time and will definitely have to try to park on a more level surface from now on. My sleeping back was so, so slippery and I woke up twice smashed into the corner.
Will let you know how it goes tomorrow.
That BD shift knob is fantastic btw.
