Good/Bad Idea to use my Intuitions in 2 different boots?

I'm wondering if I will compromise the liner (Intuition Gold) integrity of I move them back and forth between my alpine and my AT boots? They have been in my alpines (Kryptons) for a year, and I'm looking to pick up a used pair of AT boots and use my own liners if necessary.

    Thoughts?

    Bueller?

Ideally the liner conforms to the interior of the boot (as well as to your foot), so unless the interior of both boots is identical (not likely) I don't think it will work well -kind of defeats the purpose of a moulded liner. But hey, give it a try and see what happens. I'm sure you're not the first to consider it.

I'm a bit curious about this myself. My gut tells me it's not ideal because if you look at the liner you'll see that it has not only conformed to your foot, but the spaces in your boot shell. This will not be the same in the other boot.

Curious to hear other opinions on this.

Edit: ^^^ beat me to it.

well it might wear out quicker with frequent swaps, but I wouldn't worry too much. The bigger issue is if you molded them to a specific boot you might find that another is either too tight/loose based on how the difference in internal dimensions change.

          I've done it.
Its not ideal, but it works
I think the outside of the liner got a little extra worn and the foam may have broken down a bit from the constant bending going in and out of boots.

However, if your feet feel good with both boots and you can't afford a second liner... you really don't have much to lose.

I've tried it...once. I had the Dalbello Gold liners molded to my Adrenalines. Tried putting them in my Endorphins since the boot is very similar and they kinda worked but could feel the difference in some spots--not quite right and it bugged me. I think the hinge points on the boots are a bit different and the liner felt "off" to me. For shits and giggles I tried to put them in my my Shamans (an alpine boot really), and its a complete no go. I think the Ad/End last is 101 or 103, the Shamans are 98. All those are from the same brand so I'm not sure you could get so lucky as to find two different brands (AT/alpine) with the same shells.

I moved my power wraps from my Scarpas to my Dynafits and it worked fine although it did feel different as far as pressure points. Like Pickels said if your feet feel ok and you cant afford a dedicated liner for each boot then go for it.

I have a conform'ables liner that was originaly baked in a salomon alpine shell in my endorphins and it works fine so I didnt re-bake

I would say the salomon was on the big side (I sold them) and the garmont is definatley on the small side

                if it works ...it works

I was just in their factory last week asking a similar question and they said it won't be an issue to do that. If it fits both boots fine then it should be fine.. just a comfort issue

Thanks for the replies. Bunch o good info in there. I'll give it a shot, and post the results later in the season.

Similarly, anyone know of a lot-purchase of intuitions going down any time soon?

Just went down in Gear Swap. Search for threads started by "Foreal." He indicated that if there's enough interest, he might do another one again soon.

If the liner fits well in two different boots, go ahead.

FYI the liner does not really conform to the shell. It conforms to the foot. The stovepipe heaters that Intuition provides are designed, actually, to heat the inside and not so much the outside of the liner. Ditto with rice + sock method. IMO the liners last longer and fit better with less external shaping and less initial heat.

I put some retired intuitions into backup shells and they worked fine.

Awesome. I now have the confidence to save money, and not by calling the government employees insurance company. Thanks.
