    Live in Reno, ski everyday?

    Hey!

I'm getting hooked up by Splat with getting a room in Reno. Thanks a lot!

    Now to my question,

Is it possible to live in Reno and ski everyday?
I found out that Mt. Rose is the place closest to town, would I be able to ski there for a whole winter or is the mountain to small? Is it better to take the longer ride to places like Squaw? Or any of the other resorts?

    Cheers-
    Teo

I'd hesitate to put all of your eggs in the Mt. Rose basket. You can get bored there after a season. The Chutes are great, but the rest of the mountain can get pretty tame.

If you ski backcountry, the options are endless up in Mt. Rose Wilderness area, across the street from Mt. Rose ski resort.

I'd check out other resorts for day trips like Squaw, Alpine, Sugar Bowl, Kirkwood. There are good lift ticket deals to be had if you look out for them.

edit: I have a Rose pass, so I'll see you up there.

Mrs. C. and I just got Rose passes for this season, but we're also not trying to ski inbounds at a resort every day of the year. If you're ski bumming for the season, Rose is too small.

Rose is a fun little place, and worth having a pass for since it is pretty cheap. It is cheap enough that you don't feel guilty going to other hills as often as you wish. You will want to hit Squaw and Alpine, but there are other fun hills to sample as well, not to mention more BC then you can ski in a lifetime. Head south for spring skiing around Mammoth.

I have the following passes this season and will ski 4-5 days/week
    -Mt Rose
    -Alpine Meadows
    -Homewood (in conj w/Alpine)
-complimentary tickets to squaw on non-blackouts or saturday
-comp tickets on sundays at Northstar.

Holla. ski all over, bring BC gear. try to get a midweek pass for a big name like Squaw or try to get comped tickets at Sugar Bowl.
You can still buy the Double Whammy pass that gives you Northstar/Sierra at Tahoe, too http://www.doublewhammypass.com/
or the Alpine/Homewood pass, but it's a little more.

    Thanks for all the tips.

Comped tickets? Explain to a dumb swede.

Sugar Bowl looks like a fun mounta, a good amount of snow as well?
What resort around the Lake gets the most snow?

If found that Squaw has a free reno-squaw ski shuttle, has anyone take that bus on a daily basis?

Does any other mountain have similar ski shuttles? Sugarbowl?

I don't have the money to buy multiple passes, and so many of the mountains around look fun! Hard to decide.

    Thanks.

Every mountain is different, and all have advantages and disadvantages. Rose has the lightest, driest snow, Squaw has some sick terrain, Homewood is great on storm days, Alpine has good terrain and ticket prices, Sugar Bowl gets the most snow(?), Heavenly has lots of cougars, Diamond peak has lots of kids (in case you're a pedophile) and Granlebaken is just off the charts. Budget some time to get down to Mammoth.

We are on NW Reno and plan skiing every day that we aren't working.

And there's only two seasons in Reno. Winter and August.
