Targhee: teton canyon, a few miles down from hill on the south side of the road. It’s a short stub that gets you some peace and quiet.

Sun Valley is less familiar to me, but lots of canyons to the east of town, like up toward Triumph and so forth.

Does Targhee still allow overnights in one of the lots? It’s been awhile since I’ve stayed up there though.

SV-plenty of places close to town south, north, and east. I’m pretty sure you could tuck in one of the more conspicuous resort lots...at least I have in the past without issue. Maybe they have changed the policy.

I don't think I've seen too many DIY campers in this thread, so here's a gem:

The Crown Vic owner manages the Polebridge Mercantile bakery! We stopped there last summer. MIddle of nowhere, historic old building, obvious tourist trap - we were super impressed with the bakery. Huckle bear claws, chunky monkeys, huckleberry pie bars...yum yum.

I was envious of that diesel chalet as I made do a few spots away in the cramped quarters of my Passat sedan solo camper.

Ski RV's, who's sleeping in parking lots?

Ex military field ambulance. The 2500 badge is either just put on or, more likely, when the front fender got swapped.

My grandpa had a couple of those he bought at auction. The config I remember was

360 gas, all time 4x4 hi/lo only- note the aftermarket hubs. Diesel heater in the back. 4 bunks that flip up against the walls like a sub. Storage heat and batteries under the bottom two bench/bunks. He always said they’d make good campers. Maybe just a little haunted, I dunno.

Used this spartan setup for 5 consecutive nights in NH and ME a couple weeks ago including a night of -12 F near Woodstock. My bag is warm. The bed was fine. Will use it in the west too. Just need to implement a vent to mitigate condensation instead of opening the window and letting snow or other precipitation into my 2 ton bivysac.

Any recommendations for a trailer with the following specs:
Can be towed by a Tacoma
    Shitter and shower built in
Some 4wd driving- would be nice to have some clearance
Big enough to walk around in- not a teardrop
    Hard sided- no pop ups

Wife is leaning towards an airstream Basecamp but I'd like something slightly bigger, higher, and cheaper.

There are Scamps that fit this description. Even the 13 ft has a bathroom as an option.

We looked at a couple different floor plans of this. Sit fairly high and come with off-road tires. Not sure what a Taco can pull. Have to factor in fully loaded water, propane, people, gear all that

Look at the plastic things that go over the top of the windows in the outside. For smokers to vent and drive and stay dry. You can crack the windows and precio will not come in. Then get a small battery powered fan inside that is USB rechargable and turn it on and let it go until it dies at night. Those are often sold for cars with dead ac

Those are called "vent visors" - I had some on an old Jeep.
