The campground in Lake Louise is open year round and was $35/night when I was last there a few years ago. Plug-ins and a shower room. No overnight parking at the ski area lot.

Early 90's on ice climbing trips we used to camp in the Lake Louise parking lot free, and often times slept under the sinks in the bathroom in that parking lot....never got disturbed, never got kicked out, never got sexually transmitted disease or fecal transmitted disease. We stayed warm in those bathrooms.

Maybe we could start a "who's sleeping in public bathrooms" thread.

Pro tip: heavy duty black trash bags to tape over the lights that are permanently on.

    Happy holiday cash money tip:

Promaster/Transits: not getting out of the car to get gas. Just lean out in your PJ's. So cash.

I’m guessing they didn’t even have to slam it, the weight of that rig would do it for them.

Sorry to interrupt... does anyone know of a thread or resources for which ski areas allow overnight parking/camping? I’m specifically looking in the Summit County, CO area at the moment. Thank you!

This thing is pretty dialed. Seems like a decent price and negotiable

Some ski areas allow overnight parking with a fee in their aux lots. They say no sleeping in vehicle, but I hear it has been done.

I stayed for a few nights in my truck camper at the Walmart in Frisco. Even though there were signs saying no overnight RVs there were several and some looked like they hadn't moved in a while.

The above was several years ago, so the rules might be enforced these days.

The Home Depot in or near Avon also has a no overnight RV policy, but no one from the store checks...again rule enforcement is fluid.

Park outside of a brewery. If you get hassled, just tell them you were drunk and didn't want to drive.

The whole foods comes to mind. Or just across the interstate to the north, take a left. Tell them you are dawn patrolling Demming.

Best bet is to PM Alkasquawlik, he's got that shit on lock.

And make sure to tell everyone that you got the Vid.

First proper ski trip with the camper. The Lance did a great job. The only issue I had was the battery powering the heater fan, which seemingly ran all the time to keep up with the record low temps. I was able to mitigate it by running the truck in the morning and evening to recharge the battery. Still, it was tough to keep the batteries with enough charge to run the fans.

I think the next step is to figure out a way to haul a gas tank on the ladder to run my Honda generator. I suspect that will be a cheaper (and quieter) solution than running the Diesel engine in the truck to keep the house batteries topped off.

Try to find a lower amperage fan, if possible.

Oh? Yes, good idea. We ran the heat constantly as we had the pup in the camper and Mammoth was experiencing record lows with brutal wind chill most of the time we were there. I suspect with more mild temps, it’s less of an issue. But I will for sure check the fan idea.
