I parked my truck camper beside this guy last week in the Revy parking lot.
He bought the rig already converted to 4X4 but said it required a lot of fixing: back axle was 1 ton, front end 1/2 ton. He also dropped in a Cummins diesel engine.

He found that the propane heater wasn't keeping the Chinook warm (big windows, little insulation) so he added a Wabasco diesel heater, plumbed in to the fuel tank and it throws out lots of heat.

That rig is very bad ass.

This is our little rv. Double floor, heatable "garage". We have to test it with water yet. But since we're heating all day and take turns because of our little 8 month old. It should be OK. We'll test it on the next bigger trip.

We use the generator to recharge the battery. 2x11l Propane gives us 5-6 days of heat (24/7 on because of the little one)

It's a war of the mind and we're armed to the teeth.

I ‘forgot’ to leave this one cabinet door open on Thursday night... I knew my water system would freeze on an 8 degree night without doing that.
That’s why we have backups. And heaters.

ASPEN OVERNIGHT - Our Chinook Concourse was in Aspen this weekend for the X Games. My son reports he had no problems sleeping each night at the Aspen Airport Lot B. $6 per day. Secure. No hassles. Bus stop in front of airport if needed.

You may have already found this out by now: Red Mountain allows free RV parking in one of their parking lots.

Whitewater use to charge $10/night for RV plug-in but now it is $25 just to park an RV overnight and $40/night if you want a plug-in. So are there any spots around Nelson to say in an RV overnight without paying or hassle?

When I drove from Whitewater to Red, I kept looking for pullouts that might work for overnight parking but didn't spot any. I did see a sign in Salmo saying "Overnight RV Parking" and an arrow but I didn't follow the arrow to see if it was open in winter.

Those Whitewater jump in nightly rates are significant. I hope they put in 50amp outlets at that price point. If they are charging $40/night to still run a 15amp extension cord to an outlet in the shed, piss off.

Same 15 amp plug and I think only 3 operable plug-ins.

I don't get it. I would think that when a resort has no on hill accommodation like WW that they would encourage RV visitors. And I do understand that if they had overnight rooms to sell then discouraging RV's and pushing rooms might make sense. Whitewater has it backwards.

This sounds like a decision made by the road maintenance crew who had enough of plowing around rigs. If we jack up the fees, they will stay away...

Wow.... I skied a two-o-something Kastle in ~1992. What a great ski. It was called the Kastle Extreme- also orange and black. Great memories there.
