I saw that awhile back. It's been up more than one time. It really is a good deal if everything is what it says it is. That thing would be hella cheap and easy to fix also with run of the mill GMC parts ex. 350/700r4. If this was available before I bought my truck, I woulda bought it for sure.

Upon inspecting the Pinz that an aquaintence had- I was surprised to find it shared many parts with my Vanagon.

Realistically, what the hell is one supposed to do with the flip up sunroof/whatever you want to call it? I could of thought of about 2-3 other things to do with that roof, and an entire flip up roof would not of been one of them.

They were made in the same factory as the golf syncros too. http://bringatrailer.com/2015/05/12/...ry-syncro-4wd/ I saw two of these on my last trip to Europe, cool little things. I wish they'd built more

Did that acquaintance pick up the pinz from someone in Driggs or SLC in the last couple years?

They were hellish to keep on the road from what i heard, and very expensive to maintain, the reason why they got rid of them at the time.

I've never done any winter camping in my Eurovan, but here's a really clean looking on in Denver. Amazing the prices folks are asking for them these days. Bought mine in '08 for $18K with 60K miles on it.

1989 Vixen looks like a sweet ski rig and potential auction snipe. Have to get it from Louisville though.

Prices on any camper-equipped van are insane, esp in the Denver area. But doing it yourself is typically just as pricey (and finish hard to match a factory.)

I can't believe there isn't a market out there for a modern version of these things to be produced. I'd be in line for a factory-produced Transit-based camper.

Baller. Looks and sounds super clean but the price still seems a bit high. I didn't know they made Tigers in 4x4 though. Tits.

I've been perusing the GSA auctions more after my buddy picked up a 1987 Unimog front-end loader w/rear cane with 1000mi on the cheap some months back. Similar to this one - http://gsaauctions.gov/gsaauctions/a...A1QSCI14121701

Current ones that caught my eye:

The AK camper for your whole crew? - https://gsaauctions.gov/gsaauctions/...A1QSCI16118126

Beastly and ready for a retrofit - https://gsaauctions.gov/gsaauctions/...81QSCI16160019

That F350 is a steal at that price.

I wonder if that Taos fire personnel carrier is a turbo, and what the mileage is like. Thing's got a lot of room. Only 2WD but still.

I've often thought a fire crew carrier would convert into an awesome camping rig.

Saw this box and am about the pull the trigger because, why not?
    http://newlondon.craigslist.org/rvs/5700551541.html

Any tips for checking the integrity of the frame? Minimally looking for any signs of water damage, collapsing, etc.
Assuming it fits in my bed and I've got sufficient payload, what's the minimum I need in terms of tie downs or anchors to safely haul this home? Not keen on investing in much rigging for the project yet... I just want to get it home and evaluate next steps from there... without buying/installing new tie downs and without losing it on the freeway. 8' and weighs ~1000lbs
