Got a good mechanic (or are you one) in the Boulder/Denver area you'd recommend for popping in a 2" lift and some new shocks to replace the sad worn out ones? Probably going with this kit http://www.overlandvans.com/0104_liftkits.html and some Rancho 5/7000 shocks all around to replace the beat to shit ones on there now.

Blah blah blah, I know frame-spacer kits are lame by 4x4 standards, but they are the way I have to go on the Astro for a short lift without a whole new, custom front suspension. Not doing serious off-roading, just shit forest service roads and big snow drifts.
http://www.boulderoffroadvans.com/ these guys are in my hood. They seem to work almost exclusively on off-road vans. Haven't used them but they could be good place for to install and for you to get some more camper van tips.

According to the q&a section, it's an idi/non-turbo. If it was a PSD, that would be a very good price.

Old rig. Diy poptop topper. Good 3 season setup not so hot for skiing. Just replaced with this

    Full retard

Canvas is "insulated" but plan is to put in an Espar diesel furnace. There's plenty of room to camp with top down on if needed on coldest nights.

Picked up a 1998 Subaru Legacy Outback with 65k miles for a cool $2500. Oil leak keeps me honest. Cold. Sleeps two. A hell of a good time.

That looks like a winner. The two pics posted look clean. 4wd, winch, banks....PSD maybe? If it's a 7.3 that's sweet. The only problem is that it's in Denver which is close which meakes me actually want it......

If I didn't need my truck as a daily driver, I would sell my truck and get this. But I do like having the ability to take the camper out and have a vehicle. I hope someone awesome buys this camper!

Not a bad alternative at all, especially if the thing is always up in the mountains.

As for that IDI 4x4 van, wouldn't be a thing to swap a PSD in there.
