The last time I checked Sun Peaks was charging $25/night with no services. OTOH, my 4x4 driveway with internet, some electricity, overlooking Heffley Lake, 18kms from the mountain is available for: You supply the groceries and head wax. But Gary, you likely still have buds with places in Whitecroft.

I've had 5 months of way too much free-time and needed something to divert my thoughts. So I took the opportunity to inhale deeply on the crackpipe that is ever present in my mind. I've got hundreds and hundreds of days in a 1993 Travellaire Kodiak that has been from Mexico to the Arctic Ocean, all over Yukon, BC, and the rest of the country. I gutted it and rebuilt the interior for true winter 4/season use a couple years ago and learned a lot about what I like and don't like about truck campers. No matter how big your truck, even light campers like this kinda suck to drive in headwind, crosswind, or twisty/icy roads. That downfall makes me not want to drive at night between ski areas on crap roads, so I'm building something to suit my needs.
This is an all foam/fiberglass build. Roof raises 22" then clam shell closes. No wood, no metal. Center of gravity is about 12" off the deck compared to 38-40" for truck campers. It will be nimble, warm, and won't piss me off in a headwind. Shell is almost done. Needs windows, fantastic fan, etc, then I need to weld up a flatbed. Hope to use it to take my kid on ski trips by mid-February. Not a work art, but it'll do exactly what I want it to do. In summer it'll be slamming through brush and taking a beating in remote areas. Even with 60 gallons of water and a steel flatbed I'll be way under GVWR for my 2500.
Weight: It's 520lbs as is, but will be 80lbs more after complete.
Walls: 1.5" and 2" foam XPS
Lift system: 22" 12v linear actuators
Dimensions: W - 7.5ft. L - 8ft. H. - 56" closed. 6'5" open.
Heater: Diesel 5kw
Water heater: On demand LPG
Water: 30g with capacity for 60g
Toilet: Dry flush
Shower: 26x34 shower room
Tanks: No grey or black.
Sleeping: Two beds 24" x 7' plus 30" x 8' bunk.
Interior construction: all foam/fiberglass cupboards, beds, benches, interior walls.
Storage: 3 bins accessible from both inside/outside. Then 24"x7' below beds.

Very cool! Can't wait to see how you like it after using for a bit. No black and grey is prob the way to go for shoulder seasons and winter use.
