Not sure why people want to leave hard shackles attached to their bumpers. They're around $25 apiece and take five seconds to take off. Thieves and road grime are enough to go G.O.T.I.S and leave them next to the tow strap or winch controller as you kind of need to get either out to need a shackle.

Wait sorry, quick deployment of a dog leash, tie off for sun shade, or Wholefood cred means they are ready for action 24/7.

Yeah there’s a company, van compass I think, that has a kit that attaches to the front subframe.

    Here it is: https://vancompass.com/products/van-...-tow-hook-2015

Rebuilt my diesel heater in prep for 3 days of chasing elk in the snow. Still haven't figured out a good way to duct into the camper. Don't even know where to begin with cutting a hole into the actual underside of the truck bed.

I built this one with a wedge insert for the side access. I think GFC's have a similar situation. No need to cut holes.

All modern pickup beds are double wall - IDK what kind of space you need to route the ducting (would it fit between the inner and outer bed walls?), but could you cut an access panel door in the bed wall? Something you could route the ducting through for winter use, but then replace the panel door in summer to close it off?

    Something like this?

Yeah for now I have been routing the duct into one of the GFC side panels while it's cracked open. Not ideal but it works. I really like that wedge (from insulation foam board?) and bungee. Simple but looks super tight.

Maybe an access door like that is a good idea in the future as well El Chup. Ducting as low as possible into the truck bed would be better for sitting ski/hunting boots on a little rack down low so they can dry out overnight.

Probably the same people that always leave the ball connected to their hitch.

I even have one of those black vents that they use on the inside of the their camper. Thinking I'm just gonna bite the bullet soon and cut a 3" hole in the GFC side door and install a blast gate.

Anyone running Kero/Diesel blend etc in their Chinese heaters? Maybe because it sat since last winter, but running my heater on Sunday night down to around 13 degrees and I could smell some fume smell all night. I know it wasn't some bleed through of the exhaust into the hot air or my camper area because it was blowing like 40+ MPH outside all night. Dirty glow plug? Old diesel (I'm working off a 5 gal can that I filled last winter with regular highway diesel). I can't remember if it's #1 or #2 but the diesel looked thick when I poured it into the heater tank around 20*F before going to bed.

it's snowing! Well, in some parts of the world. So let's talk gear management strategies and in particular, drying out the gear. I'm curious how you RVers and #vanlifers are drying out your boot liners, gloves, and the like when you're out getting rad, sleeping at trailheads and in ski lots. Bonus points for showing pictures for the visual learners in the audience.

I put my liners under the passenger seat floor area.

I Try to avoid swampy damp areas. Baker this year may be damp.

Gloves and hat on the dash

Also will just wear my shit for a bit apres to dry in the lodge while I pick up all the honeys.

I use a 12 volt boot dryer that works well and doesn't use too much power. If you are in a truck camper, with split living, dry as much as you can up front to keep the moisture out of the living space.

In the process of building a diverter/ drying closet to sit in front of my diesel heater as a kind of pass-through dryer with an exit vent at the top. Not sure how it'll work out but it looks great on the back of the napkin.

    This is what I use:

    https://buckmans.com/product/9515/dr...and-pre-warmer.

Plugs into an inverter and is more reliable than 12v. No fan means no moving parts and no noise. Each tube draws about 8watts.
