We have a promaster with the bed sideways and my 6’ tall husband fits.

I think there’s is a bit overbuilt up inside though. Ours is not as fancy inside but I dig having the extra space.

and went w foil face 1/2" foam panel laminated to 1/4"composite white panel.

Meh. Like many commercial van builds, they use a ton of plywood rather than the lighter/thinner modern options, and they’ve overlooked the realities of 4 season use in terms of water storage / plumbing. For example, rather than Euro plug and play technology from Webasto that monitors temp and heats and circulates water in the main tank while you’re skiing in Colorado on a long and cold pow day, they just stuck in a tank with zero thought. Also the finished build has a ton of exposed sheet metal they didn’t line or insulate. Not a real 4 season design.

Most US RV industry is oriented toward KOA campground types so you end up with designs that fail the 4 season skier / climber / tgr dentist, especially when it comes to water and plumbing.

I went to a BLM Backcountry Byway dedication ceremony outside of Vegas long ago and the BLM had these fucking 4x4 RVs with big burly offroad tread tires. I was like 'Holy Shit!'
Have never seen anything like them again.

Nothing wrong with a good playa camp. A couple of beers getting to the spot, a bowl and good red while cooking dinner and watching the dog figure out the planes and speed racers, and a night cap of bourbon.

Try a winter in canmore with 8 weeks of -35 to -40C and a $300 truck camper with too many holes and a thin layer of ice on every wall and ceiling apart from the cabover walls/ceiling,2 bikes and cat all on a 91 yota. Once you move up to an insulated c class with auto heat, fridge/freezer, capt chairs and storage theres no going back. Heat and and lounge area isnt that hard to get together and its a world of difference. A home needs that shit

Picked this up a couple weeks ago. Doing some shake down trips on the weekends to make sure things are working ok. Little bouncy on the ride but working on that as we go. Pretty stable on the road side to side even in a cross wind. Looking to storm chase since we don’t have a desire to fly any time soon

I had one of those (AF 990 I think?) and they are awesome for winter camping, but they are super heavy. My F350 gasser struggled going up hills with 385 HP at about 3 mpg. Averaged 10 mpg though so not too bad. Enjoy.

Yeah it’s a 990 and it’s not light for sure. We haven’t been fully loaded water and grey/black tanks yet. Will have to report on mileage in those situations. Getting 14-16mpg with the diesel, more on the 14 side since most of our trips so far have taken us over Monarch Pass.

A friend has one -- they are nice. The only issue is the side wings (behind the rear wheels) will rot because there's nothing protecting the plywood on the inner surface.
