Ya, it’s not diesel, 4x4 or particularly good off-road. But after spending an all-time telluride winter in a camper shell with no heat...cozy was a high priority.

Thankfully I’m plugged in and parked (mostly) for the winter a few blocks from the gondola with 3 heat sources.

Needs a new engine. Then we buy a transit or promaster thats empty and begin building our own.

How much for a new engine? I’m sure it’s a lot but probably better than gutting and flipping. Although I did meet a guy this summer in the beartooths who did something similar to your plan and he was stoked on it and it seemed well-executed. I would say hold out for awd/4wd!

What kind of loans are people getting for these $100K used vans when buying from private sellers? Any ideas?

If you aren’t already on it, the fb group CLASS B CAMPER VANS FOR SALE has some pretty sweet vans to consider.

    I kinda dig this.
Not so sauve looking in the city on a residential street.
Could be stealth in an industrial area.
But damn - so nice space for backcountry!
Love how the cab and 'warehouse' space can access each other.
If it comes with the dog, I'm sold!

Yeah the no windows, just skylights tactic is stealthy but wouldn’t the smoke from the chimney give you away? And snow on the skylights = a totally dark cave. But cool rig.

Anyone got any beta on shipping solutions for vehicles? With COVID fucking things up, I dont think its safe to visit my 74 year old dad or my terminal stepfather and mom, but we're in the process of buying a van in MA and need to get it to UT. Pricing is coming in around 1200-1400. Would entertain other options.

That is a realistic price honestly for shipping a van that far.

Hey treewell dweller didn’t we ski together when you visited JH a few winters ago? Can’t recall which other mag you were with...

And @Phall - agree that shipping price sounds about right from my past experiences

Oh yea! I won’t soon forget... an all-time storm chase for back to back 17” days. Hope to get back to Jackson one of these days. It’s a little harder with the current rig. I can’t remember his handle but was up there with Rob...

Agreed that sounds like the going rate for shipping, phall.

PSA- “The Bus” out of Rutland recently auctioned four 35 footers that garnered no bids & word is they need em gone.

Contact Benny via Email : Benny@TheBus.com

These are the biggins they drive around Killington. If I had the ability to drive these- one would be in my driveway already.
