My current rig (Daihatsu Hijet, 5-speed 4x4) is getting one of these three slide-ins below:

    No.
For my RV's in USA that was a mandatory feature due to crime. E.g., I got rodeoed at 2:00 AM by some tribals at the East Glacier, MT Amtrak station where I boondocked. Had no idea that the railroad property was inside the rez.

But in Japan I do not need to worry about crime at all so not having a pass through is ok by me. Plus, I want to be able to slide out the camper when I am using my truck for daily errands and not on adventures. Lastly, the stand alone camper will be far easier to sell. In Japan having manual transmission requires an additional driver license, so automatics are easier to sell.

Word of caution with POR-15… If you do it wrong, you’ll be hurting more than helping. Prep work is the key, don’t half ass it. I wouldn’t put it on any part of the frame that isn’t properly prepped to the n’th degree.

Serious question: how tall of a person can fit in a Japanese mini-truck and camper?

Nice dude. I got to get over there. E glacier natives are morons, everyone in Mt has the gat. Things would get real loud real quick in my rig.

probably a lot of these van build write ups around. My friend sent me a link to one he put together. Figured I would share. I have seen the van and he definitely put a lot in a small area.

I'm selling our sweet RV. Definitely not a ski area (wintertime/snow) machine, unless you are a lot more courageous than me.

2016 Winnebago View 24v, 19k miles, excellent shape, $110k or trade for dental work (kidding)

I bought my first class C used for $8,500 in 2006 when our kids were little. Did 68 camping trips in that rig before we sold it a few years ago for $3,500 to a guy who is probably still using it today.

110k to go camping just boggles the mind.

I'm not sure what you're referring to.
    Going camping is free.

I am selling a really nice high end RV.

We won't be in a fixed location for skiing this year so I'm debating trying to find something that would be usable throughout the season. We'd only really use it for this season, and prices are crazy high. Kinda thinking I might stick to hotels. But god damn do I love RVs.

Looking at a older winnebago (2012) this weekend, see if its suited to the c-suites comforts.

    Chinook Fiberglass RV

NOT YOUR NEIGHBOR’S SPRINTER VAN: For sale is a 1996 Chinook Premier 4x4 RV

This isn’t the typical Sprinter adventure van everyone has right now. This is different. This rig is one of a kind, it’s basically an apartment on wheels, on steroids, but without the roid rage. With the 4x4 and dually rear, you can literally take this rig anywhere, I just took it to your mom’s house last night. This is a 1996 Chinook Premier 4x4. Chinooks were made in Yakima, WA (USA! USA! USA!) and are highly sought after for their fiberglass shell and functional floor plans. At 21ft this camper fits in standard parking spots, or will fit flexed out on some big boulders in the woods. Drives great and perfectly straight, even at 65-70 mph, in reverse. Started interior remodel, but still needs some paint to be fully finished. Is it perfect? Nah, but neither are you.
    That link sold quick.
I did not have the 4x4 version of a Chinook but did look at a NW Quadvan transmission swap quote
I can vouch for the thoughtfulness of Chinook design and the utility of the fiberglass shell
My first was a '77 Toyota Chinook Pop-Top
The other two were both '00 Ford Chinook Concourse
One was standard configuration on the EC, one was club car configuration on the WC

The Adventure Van Festival is going on this weekend at Homewood. A brief view of it last night as i left work revealed 90% dark geen modded sprinter vans, but that could have just been the part of the show i walked past. I'll see more of it today during the day.

    I’m with you.

Met some buddies for a foul weather fishing trip last spring, he drove his $100k Sprinter that he recently inherited.

I had my $2500 S&S slide in, which was far and away more comfortable for 3 full grown men to hang out/cook dinner/drink beer in, and it’s not even a big one.

The chinook concourse is exactly what I’m looking for. Problem is people love them so much they rarely are for sale.

Apples and oranges. Does your $2500 S&S slide in even have a motor? Cabovers, and all older campers were marketed and built toward familes with tables for four. Spinter vans are mostly built out for couples or individuals. They're not made for three grown men to drink beer inside. That's what the outside is for. Change the number to two and I'd be willing to bet 90% of the time sprinters come out ahead in the same situation.
