A Chinook Concourse RV is a great ski RV. We recently bought a 1997 after looking for over a year and did our first ski overnight recently. Have a multi-day trip planned next week. Starting in 1997, they have the Triton 6.8L V10 with is a big plus over the 460. You can find them $10-15K, but most are overpriced. We have about $12K in our rig after rebuilding the engine.

    Ski features:
    - 4.10 Limited slip rear differential
    - one piece molded fiberglass shell w/ 3" foam insulation ceiling, walls, & floor
    - 16,000 BTU LP furnace
    - 6'3" headroom
    - 21' and fits in standard parking space
    - totally self-contained

I have a blog about our rig with photos at chinookconcourse.tumblr.com

My plan is to use in the East while kids finish college then take it out west, park/use it first in Denver for a season, then move on to Salt Lake, Montana, Tahoe, and BC each year.

My dilemma is solved. This slide in will be going in this F350 after a little prep and wiring. The F250 will probably be sold after being driven for a few months this summer for all-time's sake. Should be a great ski hill parking lot assault vehicle. If anyone wants a super clean '76, give me a shout.

I've slept a few nights in lift shacks, very cozy but it was after the mountain had closed for the season.

^^ that right there. I dont know why people dont by more of those things, suburbans and expeds are so much more expensive.

now, convert that 7.3 to run on wvo and you can save the cost of d2 (provided you can get wvo). just keep in mind you will need a good system, and leave it idling when its really cold. but who cares when the fuel is free.

check out the vegistroke conversion kit. i did a frybrid conversion on an old mercedes and it was brilliant, always wanted to buy 1 of these 4wd vans and do same

Because (comparing new-to-new pricing) diesel 4x4 Sportsmobiles are double-to-triple the price of a Suburban or Expedition?

I'd love to have one. But even at used pricing ($40-65K for what I'd want), it just doesn't make sense financially for me.

I would love one of those small, aero trailers. A propane tank heater set up for heat and hot water would be so posh. Right now I sleep in the back of my Jetta cuddling with my skis

no man, im talking like a late 90's econoline van, 4wd, with the 7.3L powerstroke. They quit making that motor in 04 and it was their best engine for many more years to come. i see these come up on craiglist every once and a while for 5 grand. Not the sportmobile just the std 4wd econoline, you would have to add the camper stuff or build your own. there are even conversion companies that will take a standard oldschool unibomber econoline 2wd and convert it to badass 4wd. you could have 1 completely decked out for less than $15k. again, not talking about new here.

I'd trade my '97 Eurovan camper in a heartbeat for a 4X4 Econoline.
